There’s a quirkiness to her voice that works. There’s a unique energy to the sound, style, and production of TreZure’s work that indeed makes you feel as though your ears have stumbled across a treasure. This twenty five year old singer/songwriter has a style reminiscent of Sam Cooke and Etta James, yet backed by a funk beat. TreZure has energy that can resonate into the future. Vibrancy is the word to describe the artist and her creations. TreZure is not just a singer, yet a vocal artist. With learning how to sing by ear she understands, and has the potential to skillfully master, the art of using voice as instrument. With circus-like sounds she introduces you into her world through, “Lioness Extravaganza.”

TreZure has shined at venues from the Bowery Poetry Club, St. Nick’s Pub, Casa Frela, to Solomon’s Porch. Each New York venue has been taken over by this Bronx native’s soul sounds from the South. There is a very apparent New Orleans blues infusion into the production of TreZure’s work. This comes via her pianist and composer, Courtney Bryan. Through this there is also a combination of industrial sounds, upbeat tempos, and horns that confuses the brain into deciphering whether it’s at a jazz club or nightclub. It’s a nice confusion to have because in it you get the best of both.

Even in the old, there is new. Even in the serious there is play. TreZure is not afraid to take on matters of the heart, or the NYPD in her songs. As her song Killer Cop proclaims, “You’re worried about a cop killer, I’m worried about a killer cop”. There is a depth to her that can only come from a woman who writes from experience. Her work is her life. Her work is her personality. Potent, intelligent, emotional, yet all over instrumentation that still has you whyning your hips.
