Travis Mitchell
In just over a year, the Travis Mitchell Band has signed a distribution deal with Rock Ridge Music, toured with almost every major headliner on the Texas Country circuit including Cross Canadian Ragweed, Randy Rogers, Jack Ingram, Cory Morrow, and many more. In June 2006, they released a 3-song digi sampler, which preceded the release of their first album, "Forget What's Wrong," in September 2006 (which the Dallas Morning News called "a disc full of potential… Touches of roots and classic rock dart in and out of the Texas roadhouse country style."). Mitchell was also part of Lynyrd's Skynyrd's "Gimme 3 Days" cruise, which sailed from January 5th-8th, 2007 to the Bahamas.

Rather than catch their breath after all of that hard work and excitement, the four-piece, headed up by its namesake Travis Mitchell, headed down to Gautier, Mississippi to record their sophomore record with Grammy-nominated artist Chris Henderson of the rock band 3 Doors Down. The album, "Waiting On Tomorrow," is set for release on September 25, 2007. The album, which Mitchell says is a "Nashville/Texas country mix," was completed in a rather hectic 22 days of pre-production, writing and recording. I feel like this is the first time I've found my voice and my sound," says Mitchell. And that sound is quite versatile, as evidenced by the mix of honky-tonk, ballads, and rock-infused alt-country peppering the new album. "Working with Chris Henderson was brilliant," Mitchell continues. "I loved it. He was very real, and he let everyone express their ideas. We all worked really well together, and that helped some amazing ideas come out."

"What struck me about Travis' music was not just that it was Texas country, which I have a soft spot for, but that it's a little more rocking and it takes you by surprise," Henderson told the Dallas Morning News. "You really don't know where it will go. I heard his record and liked it and then I went to see him live and that sealed the deal... I was thoroughly impressed." In addition to manning the production helm on "Waiting On Tomorrow," Henderson also contributed by co-writing two songs on the album, "She's That Kind Of Girl" and "Ever Again."

Counting among his influences George Strait, Johnny Cash, Marvin Gaye, Pat Green, Paul Rogers, Gary Allan, Chris Knight, and many others, Mitchell grew up in a musical family and taught himself guitar while in college so he could play and feel comfortable singing in front of people. Since then, this 24-year-old music lover has developed his musical style and voice in venues throughout Texas. Rounding out the TMB quartet are Jonathon Bryant, who has been with Mitchell since the band started; Ty Taylor, a studio musician who Mitchell calls "one of the best young guitar players out there – he can play ANYTHING with strings;" and Paul Laymon, who came
to the band via a round of auditions earlier this year.

While this band's roots are planted firmly within Texas Country, their live performance is a mix of heart-pounding country with a rock flare that is unmistakable, and they look to take it wider audience in 2007. "I think we've really matured live," Mitchell says. "We carry ourselves better on stage, the songs themselves are more mature, and we always try to maintain a high energy level onstage for our fans."

It's very clear that it is touching something in the fans that means the most to Mitchell. "If you want them to be or not, the songs you write are going to be personal, either to you or someone else, and to me that is the beauty of a song," says Mitchell. "I think audiences find something to identify with in all of them. I've always loved to sing. It's the coolest thing in the world to me. To be able to make music and have audiences hear it has always been my dream."
