About thevoxjaguars
In a miniature place about one and a half hours from San Francisco known as “surf city” or the location in which the film “The Lost Boys” was shot, there are some teenage boys that do not in fact enjoy the surf but rock and roll. In Santa Cruz, California in 2005, a small group of friends and musicians, The Vox Jaguars, sought to create a form of rock music that would catch the ears of many listeners and change their conception of Santa Cruz.
The Vox Jaguars started as an experiment and tool of expression for high school best friends Jordan Topf and Justin Fisher. Soon Justin went off to find his own creative endeavors at Portland State university, but the band stayed active with good friends Trevor Hope on drums, Jordan Topf on guitar/ vocals, Sam Copperman .boards, and Mason Rosenberg on bass. They combined rambunctious guitar riffs and synthesizers with precise drumbeats and lovesick vocals to create a unique garage rock sound. The song writing is a very organic collaborative effort that revolves around the lyrics of Jordan Topf and the overall youth and ambition of the band (members are all 17 and 18). They recorded an EP and booked several tours themselves to Los Angeles (twice) and to Portland, Oregon and achieved great success with audiences getting larger and larger with each performance. With the excitement of meeting bands and traveling to new places very often The Vox Jaguars have played had the pleasure to perform with (or soon will be) The Fiery Furnaces, Sheena, Mammatus, Little Yellow Perfect, and The Gingerbread Patriots. In October of 2007, the LA band No Age named the Vox Jaguars as one of their “favorite new bands” in their Pitchfork Media feature article.
Over the last year, the music has become more and more complex with more focus on lyrics and intricate keyboards. The Vox Jaguars shows involve a display of natural rock and roll, attention to detailed lyrical content, dancing, and a thrilling stage presence.
