Body: Band’s one-nighter became a marriage

When the group Stronghold came together in 2004, it was only meant to be for one night, said lead singer Joseph “Danny B” Brock.
“We like to think of it as we got together for a one-night stand but it became a marriage,” he replied.
When Brock was employed at a car body shop, he was singing to himself when co-worker and bass guitarist David West overheard him.
West asked Brock to sing for his father-in-law, David Schulter, who was a drummer.
Brock agreed and met with West. After showing off his vocal skills, a guitarist known only as “Simmy” overheard Brock and asked if he needed a guitarist.
In one fail swoop, the group of men met and decided to have a jam session, but neither of them thought they’d be a full-fledged band, Brock said.
“We got together for one night to see how it felt and we kept doing it after that,” Brock said. “We started doing it and we’ve been doing it ever since.
”
And what Stronghold has been doing is making rock music, that they describe as “Amtrack derailing,” for the last four years.
With hopes of launching an album soon, the band continues to perform locally and is scheduled to perform at the FuBar Saturday.
