About Social Xperiment

Portrait of Social Xperiment
Michael Flores (Me) comes from a family of musicians. Nobody you’d know.

I started playing guitar in Jr. High School because I thought it would make it easier to get a date. The problem was that when I did get a date, I didn’t know what to do with it. Inevitably, I spent a lot of time alone with my guitar.

I joined my first band when I was 15 and we proceeded to rock the hell out of the drummer’s garage. After a year of rehearsals, we were ready for our first gig. Unfortunately, when we opened the garage door, the sound got out and we were promptly shut down by the local P.D. When the drummer’s dad got home from work and heard that the police had been to our gig, he decided that his son should take up a quieter hobby and my dreams of stardom were crushed. Temporarily, of course.

Once again I returned to my solitary life of a struggling teenager without a date. My guitar and me spent another few years together and ended up going to Cancun for a two week vacation. 11 years later, I came home from vacation. During my time in Cancun, I formed the first Rock band that could actually sing in passable English. We quickly became the hottest band in Cancunland. We played every major venue in town and eventually had 4 gigs a day. We played the pool bar at The Crystal Hotel gig at 1PM, The Crystal Bar at 4PM, The Pirates Cruise at 6PM and La Boom from 10PM to 3PM. I think we got paid but the life of a make believe rock star seems to be much more expensive than I had budgeted. Needless to say, we burned out after a few years of this and the band broke up.

I then formed a band with some friends from the area and became the first original rock band in Cancun. Uforia was our name. No, the spelling is correct, remember we were in Mexico. This is when I first started writing my own music. What a difference! You can’t play your own shit wrong. We had some success playing arenas with 1000,s of spectators but the ceiling in Cancun is very low and we quickly hit our heads. After just a few years it was over.

I met my future wife and moved to her hometown of Broomall, PA, just outside of Philadelphia.

Here in PA. I joined a band called Six Belly Tango. ( http://www.myspace.com/sixbellytango ) We were together for about 5 years and had a lot of success. We opened up for Cinderella and The Black Crows, won various battle of the bands contests and were on our way to a bright, musical future when I hurt my back and had to have surgery. We just never got back together again.

Today I have a beautiful family with my wife Rose and my two beautiful daughters Christina and Jessica. I own a production company called Creating Endeavors, I am a partner in a company called Pianoversity and I am the national sales manager for Galileo Music.

I make music in my spare minute.

My dreams are different now. I try to be the best husband and father that I can while holding on to my lifelong passion, Music.

I write, perform and produce all of my music from home on my Mac using Logic Pro. The drums you hear are usually from Drums on Demand but everything else is performed live.

I love to hear peoples opinions of my music, good, bad or indifferent, so please let me know what you think.

If something happens with it, Great!

If you like it, Great!

If I like it, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

Please join my mailing list so I can pretend that I can still be a successful musician. I will send you notifications when I upload new songs and we can stay in touch. I have no illusions of being the next John Mayer or Jimmy Hendrix but I put passion into everything I write and you are very important to me.

Thanks for listening and I look forward to getting to know you.

Mike

Thanks. We feel more than one emotion so why not write like it. Way too confining to try to limit yourself to one genre or style. ;)
