In 2005, Ron met Jim Harley and reformed the group to be Smith and Harley.
James Harley’s background in music began when he was a young boy. He was well studied in several instruments, and conducting. He began playing lead guitar in two regionally known rock bands, and also played bass and drums in a university jazz group. James won the Marlboro Country Music contest, gaining cash and national recognition. He went on to win the Wrangler Country Showdown and the TrueValue GMC Truck Country Music contest. He recorded two albums in Nashville, one with Grammy Award winning producer, Jim Cotton and one with Clyde Brooks, a top tier Nashville producer.
