Sambajazz Trio is a brazilian trio with Kiko Continentino at piano, Luiz Alves at bass and Clauton "Neguinho" at drums and trumpet.The pianist of the trio, Kiko Continentino comes from a musical family. His brothers (bassist Alberto and saxophonist Jorge) gained fame too, while father Mauro was pianist himself and owner of a jazz club in Belo Horizonte. Kiko is maybe most famous by his participation on a few albums by Milton Nascimento. He accompanied singers like Emílio Santiago, Djavan, Moska, Edu Lobo, Chico Buarque and many others.He is also a composer.
Bassist Luiz Alves is a settled name in Brazilian jazz and music in general. He has quite an impressive history in piano trios. At age 15, he set up the Trio Guanabara; later he performed in various other trio settings: João Donato, Luiz Eça (Trio Triângulo), Wagner Tiso and Tom Jobim. He composes also.
Drummer of the trio is Clauton Sales, better known as Neguinho. He's also a talented trumpet player. He even manages to play both instruments at the same time… Born in Recife, Pernambuco, he performed with Geraldo Azevedo, Gonzaguinha and Luiz Melodia.
So, they joined together and recorded their first CD named "Agora Sim", Guanabara Records. Enjoy them !
