RECKLESS SONS
A brief history

Reckless Sons is a band made up of many bands. Matt Butler, the lead singer/rhythm guitarist played Spent his high school years slugging it out in a punk rock group called Naked Riot with drummer Jake Holbrook. That band existed for a year or so, but eventually Jake left the NYC area to go to college at the University of Miami. Naked Riot existed with other drummers briefly, but soon Matt reformed the group into what became The Corsairs. Emiliano Ortiz, Reckless Sons’ lead guitar player, had in the past shared bills with Naked Riot while playing with his own pop rock outfit titled The Sellouts. In search of a bassist, Matt contacted Emiliano, who then volunteered himself, itching to get back onstage after the demise of the Sellouts. Everybody was beginning college, and the four-piece Corsairs began playing their volatile hard rock regularly at local NYC clubs and eastern colleges. At the end of the 2007 school year, Matt and Emiliano decided to reform the group once again and take on a slightly different musical direction and upped their commitment to playing. Emiliano made the switch to lead guitar, greatly enhancing the band’s sound. On drums, the newly returned Jake Holbrook was welcomed back into the fold. The three set off to Austin, Texas in August of that summer to begin their first recordings produced by Texas rockn’roll guru Paul Soroski. Emiliano took on the role of both lead guitar and bass. After returning to the city, long time friend of Emiliano’s and former NYC group Surefire bassist Jacob Sloan was contacted about the open position, and soon the four were rehearsing enthusiastically. Age range of the band is between 20 and 23, with every one but Jacob currently enrolled in college. Reckless Sons play a soulful blend of classic 70’s songwriters with a dangerous and incendiary mix of garage steel and cowboy attitude. Their live shows have become infamous for whiskey shots, sweaty shirts, and screaming girls.
