Pleaserock. Thank You!
Atlanta’s Y-O-U has blazed a trail of independent success based on fantastic versatility, reckless live appearances, and songs that are both timeless and groundbreaking. Their undeniably original sound has earned them as place on the Rolling Stone’s top 25 Bands on MySpace as well as allowed them to share the stage with Kings of Leon, The Features, Rooney, Better than Ezra, and even Hoobastank. Admitting an association with the ‘Stank – there’s something different going on here…

After moving from Indiana to Atlanta in mid-2002, Y-O-U’s meteoric rise to the top of the Atlanta scene was characterized by erratic unpredictability. Their rare combination of critical acclaim and sellout crowds was built on a reputation as Atlanta’s wildcard: from pseudonymous appearances as a Euro-synth pop outfit to mockumentary films about jump roping, no one knew what they would do next.

Y-O-U’s big curveball of 2004 was trimming the fat: dropping two members and focusing their sound as a retro-futuristic power trio. The new Y-O-U is at once dark and hopeful, psychedelic and roots-driven, intelligent and accessible. Quick-witted, honest lyrics are delivered in a haunting voice that is equal parts Buckley, Dylan, and Plant. The huge sound is driven by frenetic drumming, melodic bass lines, and jangly guitar accented by retro drum loops, synth blasts, and majestic keyboards.

Y-O-U has developed a national online following through its website pleaserock.com. The continued growth of the site and its content is anchored by a creative partnership with the co-creators of web cartoon juggernaut HomestarRunner.com. Y-O-U produced and co-wrote Strongbad Sings, a collection of songs from the wildly popular animated website, and it has sold more than 30,000 copies to date. The partnership also birthed an animated video for Y-O-U’s LA Lindsay, which was recently added by Yahoo Launch.
