Biography
At 47 Michael Di Rienzo, aka peace_and_love46 on Paltalk, caz ( as a performer in Montreal),
could be classified somewhat of a reclusive late-bloomer.
His 1st song; a collaborative work inspired by a poem written by Franka
Gesualdi entitled "Broken Messiah" was
created by chance; but even then; in 1981; one could sense in the voice that the magic was not
so much in what was said, the magic was in how it was said; and even more importantly what was "metaphorically suggested".
If you ask Michael who is the lyrical metaphor master, the answer is
"Leonard Cohen".
"What Leonard Cohen does with words I try to do with sounds; with the voice."
By the end of his 21st year, just months after writing his 1st song, he compiled over 10 songs
written in the
styles of Leonard Cohen, Cat Stevens, Graig Lake, Gordon Lightfoot, Paul
Simon; in other words the giants in the folk-pop-culture.
In his 22nd year he made the acquaintance of a streetsinging songwriter _Michael Pietrocatelli;
also from Montreal; who took him under his wing and helped to norture his desire to work on his craft.
The norturing proved very fruitful as in less than 3 years over 80 songs were written; sometimes 2 songs
in a day.To this day there are songs that he wrote in the early 80's that he loves to perform.
His whole approach to songwriting; style is historically unique and in a way,
we are lucky that he has remained a secret this long .
Till this day the songs seem just as fresh and effective as the first day they were born.
In his 23rd year he met and co-wrote with Jean Jacques Vergnaud, a reknowned multi-instrumentalist
from France. The whole experience opened his creativityy tothe world of jazz, jazz blues, and basa-novas.
In the same year he began working with Gerard Dube, pianist, composer, multi-instrumentalist and owner
of a recording studio in Montreal.
Their relationship has spanned over 20 years and 10 songs co-written just
a fresh as the very first day.
At 24 Michael married Manon Plouffe and in the same year became a proud father of a daughter
who has the same talent. By the end of 1988, Michael had over 150 s0ng titles registered with
SOCAN.
In 1993 Michael got back into songwriting after an absence of almost 5 years.
His desire to improve his craft, his singing, etc; has never stopped.
He continues to be just as passioned about it as when he was in his twenties.
At 43 the first spiritual annointment took place when Gerard Dube asked him to write some words
for a song that Gerard wanted to write to perform at his friends funeral.
Minutes after the phone call, the song HEY GOD was written.
In the next 2 months some 20 songs were written in the style of
cristian contemporary witha love ballad twist.
Hey God was submitted to Song Of The Month contest and was one of the top 5 in 2005.
2006 was the year when he discovered internet concert performances through PALTALK
and met Barbara Mullikin, Tina Guttery, Nancy Bauer, poets from America, with whom he co-wrote
several songs that are part of the Miracles collection' and "Conversations" collections.
These collections are presently going through pre-production and recordings.
