Paper or Plastic: Change We Can Believe In

Paper or Plastic started as a grassroots movement to overhaul the modern music scene. From David Pollock’s daylight basement, he and fellow musical activist Ty Whittier, along with rotating cast of early members began planting the seeds of an aural revolution.

The two young idealists finally added likeminded master-musician robots Ian Millhollen (bass) and Joey Harmon (drums) to flavor their new sound. With the synthesis of these four minds, Paper or Plastic became not only a band, but also a force of change in modern music. Their latest, longest and most diverse release to date, “Don’t Be Like That,” showcases their ability to not only craft songs, but to convey a sense of hope to their listeners.

The first wheel of change began to spin when David, Ty, Ian, and Joey, at their first show ever, won the “Audience Choice” award at the Experience Music Project’s “Sound Off!” competition. And when they opened for The Tubes just one year later, the second wheel of change began to spin the moment Fee Waybill accidentally flashed Joey his member on the loading dock.

So what about the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth wheels of change? Those began spinning simultaneously as soon as Paper or Plastic’s last release, “Best of Luck to Cody James!” was added to radio station playlists across the nation, and was said to be “all killer, no filler” by AbsolutePowerpop.com, and a “mature approach for an 18 and under band” by Performer Magazine.

But enough about wheels, change, and wheels of change. Fresh out of the studio and ready to inspire and motivate, Paper or Plastic is more fired up and ready to go than ever. And to any doubters out there, Paper or Plastic says only this: “YES WE CAN!”
