What began as a solo project ended up as something so much more. An independent artist recorded recorded his debut album "This Ain't No Wonderland" under the stage name Owen Zan. He needed a backup band to promote the album, and he put together an ensemble of friends who enjoyed listening to the music. As the band practiced together in Dog House Music, magic happened. By creating what has been described by Surface to Air Records as "pure infectious power-pop" Owen Zan evolved into a group project. The tracks originally recorded now contain an edgier rock sound, due to the new group arrangement, but are still tempered by pop sensibilities. The songs themselves deal with very emotionally charged material, but are balanced by catchy hooks and a sound that doesn't take itself too seriously. Surface to Air Records has said of all its projects, Owen Zan has the most potential to breakthrough into the mainstream.
