Nashville trio Oblio circle, pierce and entwine ’70s folk pop immediacy and epic millenial indie dissonance to create sounds that simultaneously comfort and jolt their audiences. Formed in 2004, Oblio (Terry Price, Travis Vance and Ben Dumas) has boldly reconstructed their sonic palette after last year’s lineup change. Now, the Arcade Fire’s sweep bolsters Ryan Adams’ desolation; the Walkmen’s attack infuses Paul Simon’s melodies. They offer both eclectic recordings and incendiary live performances, and their invitation is one of earnest nerve. Look out for the summer release of the band’s latest EP, Southern Trends.
