About Nathan Bostick
OurStage.com presents: Nathan Bostick
Artist Bio: Nathan Bostick Nate B. is an Artist that is hard to be categorized by a single genre of music, more varied than even his seemingly endless list of musical influences are his original pieces which he has been nurturing since the late 90s.
Always progressively minded, Nate’s Music transposes many forms including Break Beat, Electro, Atmospheric, House, Down Tempo, Trip Hop, IDM, Glitch and even Rock and Hiphop may not be safe from his eclectic views on audio. “I have always believed that everything is music, so I have always tried to take everything in, Every musical background can play a part, its just a matter of taking pieces from all of it -everything you hear everyday is subject to manipulation twist it all to fit your own perception, that’s what makes an Artist” – Nate B.
Nathan also states "its all music and I believe that most artists tend to forget this and wind up getting stuck in a certain sound or style, they become comfortable and stop pushing forward which is precisely why I had to begin doing something more than just DJ’ing” -Nate started mixing records in 1998 after finding a love for progressive house and deep trance. In 1999 he was befriended by Christopher Starr, a professional DJ and founder of U-Productions in Los Angeles, California, who saw more than just a ’bedroom spinner’ and decided to take Nate under his label. From the underground clubs and jam sessions in Albuquerque, New Mexico to the parties and massives in Los Angeles, California word of mouth spread. Eventually, Nate was heard by Deep Rooted Recordings, who took interest in his complex and diverse styles of mixing. At the same time Nate had taken a liking to Deep Rooted Recording’s more complex rhythms and musical architectures as well but felt stagnant with DJ’ing alone.
“Although some won’t agree, mixing records is certainly a true Art form, it’s the real-time arrangement of music, It takes the understanding timing and measurements, an understanding of both chord and overall musical theory and it takes a lot more than simply “Beat-Matching”, a DJ is not the music but the muse, a medium which the soul of the music uses to communicate through – I was tired of simply interpreting others music and found I was limited to the views of the artist – so why not become the artist and make inspiring sounds for others to interpret – it’s a natural plateau that every DJ should learn to reach at some point.” – Nate B.
