My grandfather Arthur Knight Harris, the radio scientist, told me he heard me singing when I was two years old and knew I was going to be a musician. Not that he necessarily wanted that for me. (Study law! Study medicine! Study science! Make a decent living!)

Indeed I could have studied any or all of these subjects, but I have always known it too, always recognized that the cards dealt to me are the cards I must play.

And so I carry on with my collection of songs and melodies, grateful I have been given a voice of haunted angelic quality, thankful for my poetic sensibilities, aware of my sensitivity to all things musical, and ready to share these gifts I have to offer.
