mieka pauley
Mieka Pauley follows her own vision for her music, and her soul / blues / rock / acoustic / alternative style has inspired comparisons to Ben Harper, Cat Power, Neko Case, Patty Griffin and others. She has played more than 700 live club, festival and college shows criss-crossing the country in the past five years, sharing the stage with Eric Clapton, John Legend, K.T. Tunstall, Black Eyed Peas, Wyclef Jean, Guster, Jason Mraz, Citizen Cope, and many others. Her highly anticipated new album, Elijah Drop Your Gun, was released independently by Mieka, Nov 1 2007, and was entirely funded by fans. http://www.elijahdropyourgun.com
press:
“Mieka Pauley could be the love child of Sarah McLachlan, Neko Case, and Patty Griffin (if it were possible for three women to have a love child).” THE BOSTON GLOBE
"Deserves to be heard - you will hit rewind."
legendary Producer Phil Ramone and Danielle Evin
- THE HUFFINGTON POST
“Up-and-coming Boston singer Pauley comes on with an emotional urgency that highlights the reedy catches in her bluesy voice. She casts a feisty, soulful shadow over these smoldering organic rockers, the arrangements built to match her intensity. ‘Devil’s Got My Secret’ reveals the nuances that separate her from the herd of female acoustic singer-songwriters.”
THE BOSTON HERALD
“Mieka Pauley is a fascinating enigma. Her distinctive and dynamic style invites comparisons to people such as Ben Harper and Martin Sexton. ‘All the Same Mistakes’ carries an almost chant-like chorus that gives it a gospel-like potency few tunes ever achieve.”
THE PATRIOT LEDGER
"The record itself is a glorious comment on Pauley’s musical and personal development. A true example of public artistry, Elijah Drop Your Gun was produced both by the artist and the audience. This has left its mark on the artist, the record and the audience alike, and they are all richer for it."
NORTHEAST PERFORMER MAGAZINE, Jan. 2008
“Mieka Pauley has a soulful voice comparable to Fiona Apple. ‘Run’ is reminiscent of Figure 8 era Elliott Smith.” WERS
“A new, amazing CD. Mieka is a dynamic and powerful performer.” WBOS
“On her resplendent independent release Elijah Drop Your Gun, Mieka makes the kind of soulful, bluesy pop-folk that will probably end up on Grey's Anatomy soon, or at least garner her comparisons to
KT Tunstall. But her voice and lyrics remind me a little more of Ray LaMontagne's debut. Elijah Drop Your Gun slides between beguiling quiet moments and shivery wails of lamentation. Mieka's ardent singing refreshed the genre for me.” MURUCH.COM
“25 Hottest Women Who Deserve Record Contracts: Mieka Pauley’s music is a fusion of Patty Griffin's spunk, Jeff Buckley's most wistful moments, and Ben Harper's earthiness.” SHOUTMOUTH.COM
"Ten Favorite Songs of 2007: ‘All the Same Mistakes’ by Mieka Pauley, from ELIJAH DROP YOUR GUN -- A searing, swirling, all-encompassing song about bad love.”

“‘Elijah Drop Your Gun’ (DIY) is full of beautifully potent songs that her fans crave. Her voice is layered with emotion and has the earthiness of Aretha Franklin, the smokiness of Billy Holiday and the modern day folk rock sounds of Patti Griffin and Neko Case. Stellar songwriting.”
