Hi, a little bit about me.
The photo on the page I took with my camera in my truck at a stop light on my way to work. I needed a photo for my webpage I was creating in an HTML class I was taking on-line with the University of Phoenix. Graduating with a Bachelor's Degree has been something I have always wanted to do.
Writing song lyrics is also something I have always wanted to do so I wrote a few down and Hilltop Records finally talked me into getting this song set to music.
I am new to this process and I am looking forward to learning more about it.
Anyway, that's a little about me. If you like, hate, maybe it's okay want to give me your opinion that would be great and my feelings won't be hurt if you don't like my song.
Sincerely,
C.
A fun time for me today. If I told anyone that I wanted to write song lyrics they would say, "What do you want to do that for?" I was raised to be responsible and doing something like this would be called a "Pipe Dream, get your head out the clouds." So yes, I am realistic, I may not get discovered or make a million dollars. But today, I received a royalty check from Hilltop Records for $11.44. I actually was paid for my Pipe Dream, "How Cool Is That!" Very Cool.
NO SHOES, NO SHIRT AND NO PROBLEMS.
That was the song I was playing over and over again as I drove back from Scout Camp in PA. Did you know, that when you hall azz with an overheating minivan that once you get it up to 80 mph the temperature goes down? So today, I was sitting outside of the District Guy's house waiting to see if he would sign off on my son's Eagle Project. Guess what song was playing.
NO SHOES, NO SHIRT AND NO PROBLEMS!
And my son was signed off to complete his Eagle Project! COOL!
Hi everyone,
I'm still working on getting my son his Eagle. If you like my song and voted you liked it in April or May, do me a favor and join my fan club and thanks in advance for your interest.
C.
Hi, I'm happy to report that all my son's hard work in his quest for Eagle which is what my song is based on, based on a crazy trip to scout camp to earn merit badges and finally he did it. I am the proud parent of an Eagle Scout that earned 35 merit badges.
Sincerely,
Marshall_C

I work for a company that deals with conducting surveys and obtaining accurate results. To explain, a sample is drawn as in songs are entered into a category for a month since OurStage does not pick which category a song should go in. Once the sample is drawn, the players in the sample are not allowed to delete the other players.
This is contrary to what OurStage does. A sample is drawn and OurStage allows participants of the sample to effectively withdraw other particpants from the sample. Therefore any results they get are not accurate for the month or for that category.
The category that a song is moved to is also tainted because if you vote for a song that was introduced into the sample drawn then the original sample for the month is tainted and the winners are not the true winners.
In a Judging Chat, I guess they were asking me about my song. The person asked me what do you do when the song does not fit into the category you are judging? It was all very like I am a successful musician and you suck! I answered that I judge the song based on if I like it and if it is better than the other song.
So,if you want to move yourself along with no integrity up in the competition of the category you are entered into for the month? Flag every song you hear and claim that it does not fit into the category and claim it is offensive and there will be others like you and you effectively eliminate a fair judging and taint the sample.
Sad to say, but this is how people behave. When did you ever hear a musician, band, songwriter from OurStage have a hit song on the radio but that is the level people stoop to since OurStage does not know what they are doing.
Something to think about from me.

Hey Catherine,
Based on comments from OurStage fans, we think that your entry will be better
received in a different channel. Our goal is to keep the listening experience in
each channel consistent with our channel definitions (http://www.ourstage.com/about/faqs#faq151a).
This keeps the fans happy, encourages them to judge more battles, and ensures
that your art is seen and heard by as many people as possible.
You can now find your song in its new location where we expect it will be well
received and have the best chance of success.
Here's what we've moved:
'The Fan Song' moved from POP to the AMERICANA / ALT COUNTRY channel.
You are welcome to submit your entry or entries to another channel if you wish.
If you disagree with the opinion of the fans in this matter, please write us at
community@ourstage.com. Thanks and good luck!

This is my response to OurStage...
LET THE FANS DECIDE...
How is this true when you move a song halfway through the month saying that it fits into another channel?
Let's talk Channels. The song is about being a Kenny Chesney Fan but that does not fit into Country? Isn't Kenny Chesney the reigning Country Music Artist for how many years now?
Now lets talk about where my song was moved, Americana/Alternate Country? So a song about the reigning Country Music Artist is Americana/Alternate Country? Maybe you should tell Kenny Chesney?
Sincerely,
Marshall_C
I don't understand OurStage. It's a song that does not fit into Country, it does not fit into Americana/Alt Country so I entered it into Pop this month. From my page of favorite songs you can see I have been judging in Pop where my song was entered.
Big Brother, OurStage has moved my song in one day from Pop to Americana/Alt Country. I had votes and now half way into the month I have no votes.
I should be fair, my song was not doing that great anyway but I don't understand the move half way through the month.
Can someone please explain this to me?
Sincerely,
Marshall_C
