Lyndie at a gig at Olearys, Sarasota, Florida
Hi, welcome to my home page. This is the first time I've put my songs on the internet. Just starting to get an understanding of how Our Stage works. I think it's a great way to share your creativity as well as appreciate the creativity of others. As far as my songs go, most of them are story songs reflecting on my personal experiences. Sometimes I'll sing a song in first person although I'm singing from someone elses perspective like in "Taking Our Florida Time." I was only in my 30s when I wrote that song but sing from the senior Florida drivers perspective. I try to keep most of my songs light and fun. Lots of parodies; Weird Al Yankovich kind of stuff. Some are introspective, others nostalgic. I've lived most of my life in Florida although I'm originally from Ohio. Between 1997 and 2005 I lived in Fort Collins, Colorado and performed with a parody group there called "The Mostlies". What a fun group of people! They had a joke for everything. I also performed children's musical enrichment programs for preschoolers with "Rhythm and Rhyme Tyme" out of Windsor, Colorado and sang in "The Rainbow Chorus between 1998 and 2004. I love many styles of music especially folk, pop, Irish Celtic, and classical. I've played guitar since the age of 15, first learnig Beatles and Bob Dylan songs. In 1995 I started teaching myself the mandolin through instructional books and tapes. After after taking a trip to Hawaii in 2001, I also started having a passion for the ukulele. In some of the songs I've used all these different intsruments. Any comments you may have would be appreciated. I'm always looking for ways to improve.

Christmas Time Down By The Tiki Hut
Verse # 1 No snowflakes are falling. No jingle bells on sleighs. No sipping hot cocoa, warming up near a fireplace. Here there no slopes to ski. No rolling hills or plains, but in the land of the cabbage palms the spirit still remains.
Chorus: Now the sun is brightly shining so come oil yourself up, and spend Christmas time down by the tiki hut.
Verse 2 You won’t need your thermal wear, a stocking cap or boots. Just grab yourself a pair of shorts, flip flops and a bathing suit. A volley ball game’s goin’ on or pull your frisbee out. I’m sure you’ll find someone nearby to throw to for a while.
Chorus: And there’s tanning bodys everywhere soaking up the sun, spending Christmas time down by the tiki hut.
