Growing up in the Steel City of Pittsburgh, PA Melinda's first taste of music started with playing guitar in jazz bands. "I loved playing the guitar so much, but knew I had a lot more to say and singing felt the best way to express it." By 15 years old, she was performing with notable local musicians throughout Pittsburgh. They recognized her natural talent and innate knowledge of rock and blues music at such an early age. "I was never into all the fads my friends were listening to growing up. I was the only girl in the eighth grade listening to Muddy Waters, Aerosmith, and Led Zeppelin. I was totally taken by the emotional rawness of rock and roll music and the freedom it allowed me to express."
Soon a voice told her it was time to take the next step. She moved to Boston, MA after receiving the World Scholarship at Berklee College of Music. It was there she fine tuned her talent and learned from many great mentors and teachers. She was selected by the voice department to perform in the prestigious Singers Showcase and was the recipient of The Aerosmith Endowment Award.
While in Boston, Melinda joined the all girl rock band Mass Ave, which received major label interest and was produced by industry veterans Cliff Magness and Steve Kipner. The band has since parted ways leaving Melinda to focus on her solo career. Recently, Melinda just finished a new recording of original material with collaborations from Grammy winning songwriter/producer Kevin Bowe and former Tone Cool Records Founder Richard Rosenblatt. Melinda's distinct sound is a fresh mix of classic rock, roosty blues, and heartfelt pop. She embraces elements from many of the great artist that inspired her along her journey such as: The Rolling Stones, Otis Redding, Heart, and Sheryl Crow.
