Though Kala Farnham has been songwriting consistently since she was 12 years old, she is a classically trained pianist and is currently studying classical music at Furman University in SC. Kala hopes to continue studies in world and jazz music, psychology, and english. Outside of the educational environment, Kala has stayed true to songwriting as a both a method of communication and self-liberation. She is currently exploring the use of electronics and more complex instrumentation in her piano-based music. Her song "Eight Months" was voted the number 2 Alternative song on the IAC Picks list by the Independent Artist Company, a website based in California and created to support independent artists. "Eight Months" also reached number 12 on on the KIAC Radio Alternative Chart.
