in part... and part of
Always looking for a way to bring something new and beautiful to a world where neither is noticed often, Jadiid (jAH-deed) began. This music seeks to show people to not only listen but create. To not only hear but sing with, to join the choir. Through the departure and arrival of many members, they find the space to make something intemperate, not forgetting that a good song is all that is needed
Coming off of their first ep recorded in a basement with the help of many friends, Jadiid is now a band in a larger community of many. With their roots in the city of Chicago they are preparing to record their LP.
While commited to their own, they share music and life with these other great artists: Ben Abney, The Hudson Branch, Karl F. Kling, All That Noise For Feeling, Berry, Mi Ciudad Anhelada, Nate Henricks, Enoke, and A Midday Atlantic. While commited to their own, they share music and life with these other great artists: Ben Abney, The Hudson Branch, Karl F. "O to have life henceforth a poem of new joys!
To dance, clap hands, exult, shout, skip, leap, roll on, float on!
To be a sailor of the world bound for all ports,
A ship itself, (see indeed these sails I spread to the sun and air,)
A swift and swelling ship full of rich words, full of joys."
-Whitman

Traditionally Speaking

I don’t think creating something original should be the goal. If it is something really from yourself… then originality will naturally come. Rather I think we should look for the things that intersect at tradition and creation. There is a reason Dylan copied Guthrie or Tweedy copied Dylan or Radiohead copied Talking Heads. They saw value in the tradition they were carrying on… and there own art became so much more “original
