Gregory Piere is an artist in every sense of the word in that he is quick to say he wishes he would have stayed in the church choir when he was growing up. He is a purpose driven man who was actually able to play four instruments fairly well (Violin, viola, cello and alto sax) when he was in the fourth grade. By the time he entered middle school he fell in love with drums and abandoned his interest in all other instruments. He then spent the next ten years honing his skills as a drummer playing in local bands around the Northern California Bay Area. The sad thing is that he fell in with a crowd that had the wrong idea about life and proceeded to spiral out of control into a life of addiction. Today having overcome that life leaving it behind over seven years ago he is busy in his project (home) studio writing, composing, and arranging the vast collection of words and music he hears in his head. He has come to terms with the fact that his strength is in writing composing and arranging and he has chosen to focus his efforts on that and nothing else. This prompted him to leave mixing/mastering to the professionals even though he actually has the necessary gear in his project (Home) studio to produce a decent mix. Writing, composing, arranging and recording all of the instrumental elements (drums, bass, Keyboard, vocals etc.)is all he does and where he shines. Gregory’s’ philosophical approach to his artistry is based on his belief that music is pleasant because of the silence between the notes. If the silence is in the right places the ears find it pleasant. So he systematically fills the silence leaving just enough to make things wonderfully melodic and elegantly arranged. His view on singing is that he himself is not a Luther Vandross but there are many others who aren’t Luther Vandross’ who have enjoyed phenomenal success as singer/songwriters with great rewards. Gregory’s’ primary objective is to become a Grammy award winning independent singer/songwriter so that he can attract other independent artists/singers he can write with/for, and assist. He is also currently working on his own CD which should be released in late 2008.
