About GE5 Band

Portrait of GE5 Band
GE5 is a band of four guys who formed up in Tacoma, Washington way back in the '90's. The band originally was a cover band, but after a personnel change they began to write their own songs, intermixing them with the Beatles, REM, and Morrissey songs they played every night.  The band played together for 4 years in this line-up, but eventually parted, with each member going their separate ways.

The death of a good friend brought the band back together, and the realization that they had a lot of great songs that needed to be heard gave them the desire to record their music, and the band's Debut disc "Superficial World" was released Feb 1, 2008.

The members of the band have each had some successes of their own in the past, but feel that this group has a dynamic sound that is unique and yet familiar. With many songs featuring two-part harmony lead vocals, as well as jangly electric 12 string guitars, they have been compared to bands as diverse as the Byrds, REM, the Hooters, the Smithereens, and the Beatles --- all huge compliments to the band, as these have been influences in their songwriting and their sound.

The band has continued to write, and are looking to incorporate some of the new songs into their performances, and are excited about the buzz that is starting about their new release and their sound. And this is a band that can't wait to get out and share their music with more and more people!

We love what the press is saying about us

GE5 Superficial World Self-Released 14 song CD

GE5 plays their power pop the old fashioned way, with plenty of big guitars and fist-pumping arena-rock choruses. Take a trip back to the late 70s and early 80s where a rock band was a real rock band, and not afraid to turn up the stack as loud as it would go.

I’m thinking Cheap Trick-meets-The Smithereens, an all out American band without apologies or regrets. The group is at their best when they just let it loose, like on the opening track You May Be Right (no, not the Billy Joel tune), where the band blends cool harmonies with catchy riffs and killer hooks.
