The buzz on country music singer/songwriter Elvis Brown began in Chattanooga, TN in the early '90's. Elvis' true traditional country voice has entertained country music lovers for some twenty years from Tennessee to Texas.
Born Cecil Matthew Brown in Knox City, TX. Elvis was raised around West Texas in a music loving family. He had many musical influences from Bob Wills to Merle Haggard to the Eagles to George Strait. Much of Elvis' vocal ability was developed at an early age from singing in church on Sundays at the Acuff Church of Christ, just outside of Lubbock,TX.
Elvis began his musical career when he moved from Abilene, TX to Chattanooga, TN in 1987. After living in Chattanooga for a while he began managing a recording studio. It was in the studio where he began developing his authentic Texas Swing style vocals. Around 1989 he began sitting in with local bands and became a featured vocalist in the Country Pride Band of Cleveland, TN. In 1990 he formed the Headin’ West Band and the rest is music history.
Elvis has won many vocal contests including Conoco’s Best of Chattanooga Best Country Music Male Vocalist in 1993. In the mid 90’s Elvis won Cactus Moon’s Battle of the Bands. He won a handsome cash prize and received the honor to open up for country music group Confederate Railroad.
Elvis has played many venues, nightclubs and dance halls all over the tri-state area. He played Chattanooga’s Riverbend Festival in 1992 and 1993. Elvis also performed twice at Tennessee's beautiful Fall Color Cruise and once at the Strawberry Festival in Dayton, TN. Elvis was a regular performer at the Whistle Stop Dance hall in Cleveland, TN and the Pickin' Barn in Ringgold, GA from 1992 to 1999.
Like most country artists Elvis has paid his dues by doing benefits such as the USO tour and the Ronald McDonald House. Elvis like most country singers is very patriotic. During the Gulf War he sang his patriotic country ballad “Freeland” for the troops before thousands of supporters in South Pittsburg, TN in frigid weather. And in 1993 the USO retained him to perform on the USO tour.
Elvis is also a deeply religious person. In 2000 Elvis decided to prepare for seminary. So in 2002 he moved to Memphis, TN and enrolled in one of the toughest seminaries in the country and graduated with honors in 2006.
In March 2007 he signed with Country Discovery Records and recorded his newest country release “One Nation Under God,” staying true to his country roots and patriotic spirit.
On June 13, 2007 Elvis went to a local political party to shop his new song and met the love of his life, Bobbie. And two months later they were married on Pass-a-Grille in St. Pete's Beach, FL.
