Hi! I'm Dan Tharp, a solo acoustic guitar player who plays classical and steel string guitar....but only in my spare time. I don't make a living as a musician. I'm actually the IS Director at Pekin Hospital (http://www.pekinhospital.org).
I've been playing guitar off and on since I was 13/14 but never could bring myself to perform or record because of "stage fright" and that stupid/crazy voice in my head that keeps telling me I'm not good enough to make a living at it.

So, I pay the bills the old fashioned way (with a real job) and play just for fun.
Well I'm in my 40's now and I've been thinking maybe it's time to get over that and start recording and maybe(?) performing again.
I just purchased a BOSS BR-600 Digital Recorder to record my pieces with. As I get the time, I'll start uploading them to this site.
By the way, the BR-600 is an AWESOME device. I recommend it highly!

Thanks to everyone on Ourstage for all of the kind words and support you’ve given me. It really means a LOT to me.
As I can, I’m working on my next album, “Second Thought”....trying new things; re-thinking my music; re-thinking my career; re-thinking my life.
....and hopefully, coming out the other side braver and musically stronger.

Amazing!
Your Turn Now is a really good Ambient Track. The Flute and the suttle rhythmic background is Second to None in terms of mixing Electronic Sounds with Orchestral Instruments.

You are so amazingly talented. I love your songs in all channels!!!!!!!!!!!!! I totally understand stage fright.. I stopped me for twenty years, only wrote and played alone until two years ago, when a friend amped me up to go to a studio, now, I just play open mic's and small benefits. I like the new pics and the cover for your album dude.!! It must be hell seeing your song at number 1 so many times and get taken away at the last second. You hang in there !! And Ive already made my next years resolution to go out and play a gig somewhere, YOU SHOULD TO !!!!. I hope delays gets #1 this month its a kikass melody. You got a style all your own, I really like every song you have written, Desert walsh is also kikass. If I make it in the songwritting world Ill let em know about ya. hi Dan..hope to met ya in the top ten in solo inst this month..if your there and im there then there is future for acoustic guitar - and giancarlo too..his russian piece is amazing (now we will demand a solo acoustic guitar channel lol)

anyway just so much good music going on - now ourstage is getting bigger its good to have friends that are top of their game..

Hey Dan, Really enjoyed listening to "Desert Wash" while judging Instrumental during March. I had to come by and check out some more. "Delays Delays" is great also. I reminds me a bit of Phil Keaggy, and I really LIKE Phil's stuff.

Ya congradulations dude !! Your awesome. thanks for the suggestion on the boss studio, I redid Christmastime, even for my first recording it sounds way better than my 1st demo. Ive got to do a bunch of editing for my effects but I think it was a good first effort considering I accidently deleted my first and BETTER recording lmao OOPS !! Wishing you every success in the future. You are certainly good enough to make a living out of yor playing - Film and TV especially seem to be interested in good acoustic music (especially instrumentals)Have no idea why you are not in the top few...

You doing just fine! Your guitar work is great and we enjoy listening to it. We record on the BOSS BR-864 which is now out-dated, but it is a great recorder for the solo artist. It took awhile for us to discover how to do some things with it, but overall it is very intuitive. Welcome to OurStage, and keep the songs coming! - Bob & Deb
