AN anomaly is the best way to describe ciph
even at birth ciph defied the odds: born February 29th a day that only comes around once every four years.
ciph was raised in a two parent household, his mother in one house and his grandmother in another. it was in these two homes ciph would witness two woman protect and provide for a needing family. ciph's mother worked non-stop leaving ciph for weeks at a time with his grandmother in marcy projects. ciph fell in love with music: it was a place where anything could happen, a place for expression. in marcy projects a young ciph would preview the development of an industry icon named Jay-Z ciph watched this young entrepreneur as he made his early street videos in marcy. ciph would view jay's determination and for the first time ciph witness a drive to suceed from a male point of view.
The first Taste of live music came from one of the legendary school yard rap battles New York is Notorious for. it was watching and listening to that battle that convinced ciph he could be the greatest entertainer in the world and with that hunger he began his quest to become a household name.
ciph would learn the disciplines of the "God Body" from a family friend and found his life name, a name that means complete, a complete person or object, a cipher
cipher would become ciph after two years of continuous writing and practicing in front of his mirrors. ciph had found his place, a place where he could be comfortable and it was time to venture into the world with his craft. ciph began to join street battles and realized he wanted more than just the school yard fame that came from beating your neighbor in a rhyme fest. ciph would once again look to his source of inspiration and found his way out of the so called "ghetto"
"jay-z had just dropped "hard knock life" and he was on the road to superstardom. he proved that hard work, word play and a strong work ethic can pay off. i mean come on i was watching him in marcy out my grandma's window doing videos in the hood...now i'm watching his video on mtv!! that's real inspiring" ciph says hungrily!!
in 2005 ciph hit the stage with vengeance, something to prove. he took the stage presence of tupac and Notorious B.I.G and blended it with the rhyme flow of Nas. ciph worked for years to give his audience a performance, a spectical to remember and it was evident with the reactions to his performances. ciph captured broooklyn first, shocking fans everytime with his delivery, his showmanship: ciph became known as one of the hottest new performers in New York by the end of 2005. all was going according to ciph's dream; people were starting to take notice, untill mid year 2006
it was then that ciph's "rock", his foundation would be stolen from him. cancer would take ciph's grandmother and for the first time ciph questioned himself, his passion and his life. everything would become dark to ciph, the music expressed pain, endless pain, trails and for the first time real hardship. for months ciph vented through pen and his passion grew. ciph performed three to four times a month for the remainder of 2006, often appearing as if he is masking his pain, as if he had no way out but music. ciph would take several huge steps in the direction he longed for by opening up for upcoming entertainer Papoose, Black Rob, and Sheek louch of the lox. his music would once again begin to refelect his versatility, the same versatility he worked on for years. a party side, a street side and an angry side that can only be compared to the boisterous eminem.
by the end of the year 2006, he had been called every thing from the next mos def to a re-birth of jay-z by critics from around the industry. ciph built his street buzz back up by appearing on over fifty mixtapes, three of which traveled to over fifty thousand people and worldwide. the votes from these mixtapes named ciph one of the best unsigned entertainers of 2006. that december, ciph released his long anticipated mixtape titled "the quiet storm" which was hosted by world recognized mixtape DJ, DJ K-Swiv.
simultaneously, ciph's music was placed on the "best of look what i found" unsigned mixtape for 2006 and the song "let's work" was turned into a ringtone. the placement has ciph music music available on all of the major online stores,so it's easy for ciph's four thousand plus fans to download his music and ringtones. ciph would then perform at the legendary sugar bar in manhattan, an establishment owned and operated by R&B legends Ashford & Simpson. The event was televised and viewed by over 2.5 million people.
ciph stays true to his name by providing listeners with a fresh, new sound with every song, every hook and every single lyric. ciph is not only exciting to watch but also exciting to listen to. in california the people call ciph, the 8 point 0 because his music is ground breaking yet classic hip hop
