All in the name of dreams and creativity.
Chiara Angelicola is an "old-soul", singer/songwriter belting folk tales of the modern world through her own youthful, honest, and ruthless lens. Whether she is on or off stage, Miss Chiara is breathing in the fire of life, and she will make you want to fight for your passions whether you want it or not.
Miss Angelicola grew up with the sounds of her mother --a Guatemalan jazz musician-- singing and playing piano. Chiara’s first training was all in jazz, and she found her voice on standards, like Sinatra and Holiday before her. In 2002 Chiara Angelicola introduced herself to the world as the powerful front woman of the funky pop band Morning Theory. Johnny Cash, Fiona Apple, Patsy Cline, and Bob Dylan are some of the artists who helped Chiara find her true self and sonic ambitions.
Her's are the words we whisper in our heads. Her solo debut, Bird Songs (2007), is all the intimate, honest love that modern day pop music fails to capture; a successful outlet of a very complex set of emotions. “It’s really healthy and a natural, progressive step to be taking and drawing from all of my real love relationships...If I wanted to I could let myself cry about most of the love that I write about. It’s the love that makes you crazy if you don’t sing about it."
Using this honesty as a means for creativity, Angelicola has gained considerable recognition from the competitive San Francisco music scene, headlining venues such as Great American Music Hall, The Independent, and indie-favorite, Bottom of the Hill. Along with dueting The Police's "Roxeanne" with soul singer, Blue Cantrell, Chiara has also shared the stage with Bay Area favorites, including Goapele and Port O'Brian. She has received significant online and underground radio recognition across the country, and continues to digitally distribute her music on the internet's most accessible and popular businesses including Rhapsody.com and iTunes.
Angelicola is currently in production with engineer/producer Andy Zenczak (Gadget Box Studios) and musicians Marcus Balanky, Lance Lee, Michael Curry, and Keith Wieland for her upcoming full length album, "Masquerade", to be released in summer 2008.
