Hi my name is Paul Gannell. Just to give you a quick run-down about me. I was in the Australian music industry for well over 20 years as a guitarist and singer songwriter. I have played in various rock bands - most notably Sydney band Avion in the Mid to late 80s - which had a great live following and it was a just a kick arse band! My last band was Blu Max which I fronted in the early to mid 90s before I gave it all away married and moved to New Zealand for a quieter life. This is my very first attempt of songwriting after a total 10 year break from the music industry (literally I didn’t play or sing a note for 10 years) so I was pleasantly surprised that I could still hold a tune – like riding a bike I guess. So these days I don’t do any live work but sure have had my fair share of playing live. My record is 250 shows in one year in which I have supported acts like: Def Leppard, Eurythmics, Suzi Quatro, Canned Heat, and Uriah Heap. I have toured all over Australia with Aussie acts like Cold Chisel, Rose Tattoo, Choir Boys, Ian Moss, and even Garry Glitter way back in the early 80s - wonder how he’s enjoying jail! The songs on this site have been written and recorded by me during 2007-2008 from my very modest home studio in which I play guitar, vocals, keyboards and bass, together with my favorite drummer - that’s in a box and which never complains or asks for pay rises. My aim these days is to really enjoy my writing and playing and continue where I left it 10 years ago and hopefully gather a few fans along the way.

Old Rockers Never Die Idle Rockers Do

After 20 years of chasing that elusive rock star dream I made a decision 12 years ago I needed a real job, I tried many things like courier driving, office worker, Insurance broker so my wife and I decided to pack up from Sydney and head over to the long white cloud New Zealand, I can hear you all say WHAT!!! you left Australia to live in NZ? well it seemed like a good idea at the time. We had a very romantic dream of starting up a little antique shop in a sleepy village were only nice people came in and bought your over priced goods although I had no experience in antiques or running a business but as with most of my jobs I could bluff it really well. anyway the reality was we ended up in a dirty dingy cold under cover market selling to hundreds of tire kickers, time ...
