Sounding like a Tarantino film in stereo, BLACK TAXI seduces with the seediness of a pulp fiction novel; a decaying sideshow that's as sexy as it is punk rock. Lyrics paint woozy pictures of Kerouac-ian misadventures, featuring a rotating cast of transvestites, bible-thumpers and corrupt cops. The guitar riffs smolder with a surf-rock sound that references Dick Dale and Pat Martino, while weaving together band influences such as The Police, Cake and The Clash.
With a capacity performance at Arlene's Grocery under their belt, BLACK TAXI is poised to attack the New York scene this spring, returning to old haunts such as The Mercury Lounge, Trash Bar, The Annex and The Knitting Factory with new songs and an even crazier stage show. They continue to be featured on nationally syndicated Fearless Music: The TV Show (Saturday nights on New York's Fox 5), and performed as part of Fox 5's Good Day Press Play Summer Concert Series on Friday July 13th.
