Before The Storm was formed in the summer of 2007 after drummer Bill Gross, and vocalist Cody Bollinger had decided they weren't ready to leave the ever-strained Buffalo metal scene just yet. After their previous band had split up, the good friends and band mates began searching for a full band. They posted several ads on the internet, and guitarist Mike Dennies replied within hours. The deformation of Mike's previous band, The Fifth Hour, left Mike with plenty of ideas that he wasn't willing to give up on. Walking into Bill's basement with nothing but determination, the trio had created three songs within weeks. They had combined influences of many genres and varieties and created a style unique to today's metal bands. Through the miracle of High-School wood shop, Bill had come across bassist Alex May. Mike and Alex, sharing many of the same styles and influences, had worked well together from day one. The newly formed 4-piece continued to write music that was true to their beliefs and lifestyles. Recently, guitarist Chris Lyon was added to the lineup after his band Trick Question broke up. With a new guitarist came new material. Chris added a touch of his own style into the melting pot that is Before The Storm. His solos and harmonies bring a different feeling to the music, but it still maintains the raw metal sound they started with. Mind-numbing technicality, a dose of heavy large enough to make your eyeballs explode, stage presence that is just as intense as the crowd, and the right amount of catchy riffs are combined to keep you coming back for more.
