About Alexis Marceaux
A Native of New Orleans, Alexis Marceaux, is a Singer-Songwriter whose music is as meaningful as it is memorable. She began singing when she began to talk. Influenced by artists like Carole King and Alanis Morissette, Alexis would go around the house belting every note. Her first public venue was a parish wide chorus at the age of 7. In her early teens, without much in the way of formal lessons, she began playing guitar and piano and wrote her first song at the age of 13. Alexis’ musical style can best be described as Soulful, Acoustic, Folk Rock. Others describe her as a passionate musician with a comfort and ease on stage that draws the audience in. Her songs are written from her personal experiences, insights and emotions, and people of all ages relate to her Lyrics. Born in New Orleans until age 17, Alexis and her family moved to Hammond Louisiana, following Hurricane Katrina when they lost everything and had to start again. Her music helped her to cope, to make friends and to adapt easily to this new place, and being in this new place helped her to grow musically. At nine-teen Alexis is now recording at the Music Shed Studio in New Orleans, where recently Robert Plant recorded. She plans to release her first CD in May 2008. Alexis attributes much of her musical inclination to her father who is also a musician in the New Orleans area and to her constant musical surroundings as a young child.
