Well, my name is Gavin Brown. As you can tell, I'm an unsigned electronica artist. I got started making music about four years ago when my dad bought a used $400 drum set. After joining a sort of garage metal band (called Armored Serpent), I discovered that I didn't like drumming so much any more -- while the world of percussion fascinated me (and still does), I'd have to drum to whatever the other band members wanted to play. Seeing as I hated metal at the time, I didn't like that idea at all. Not long after we got started, the lead guitarist of the band (Connor Mcleod, my best friend) asked his Grandpa is he would lend us his keyboard so we could add some synth sections to our songs. I was very excited when he obliged to lend it to us for as long as we wanted it. After he brought it to my house, I discovered a whole new world of music that I had never imagined! I never thought that I would be interested in playing the keys, but it just so happened that I loved synths of all kinds (which this keyboard had), so I taught myself how to play the piano. I quickly found that I enjoyed it much more than drumming. Soon after I started playing it, I began composing, and completed my first minute-and-a-half long song entitled Overdrive. Quite truthfully, it sucked, but I was so exhilarated! I had made a song! More songs followed, and within two and a half years, I found myself to be the proud creator of about 40 songs. Nearly ALL of them were terrible (especially in terms of timing), but I had a few compositional gems. Despite my excitement, I longed for the ability to make some songs that were... Well... Good. It really sucked having a bunch of crap songs with everything off time. After remembering the reccomendation of a friend, I decided to have a look at FLStudio, a program that I thought to be nothing more than a high-powered MIDI sequencer. I soon found that there are thousands more things that you can do with a program than you can do with a keyboard, if not an infinite amount of things. Since I discovered that program, I've composed over 60 more tracks, all of them (even the crappy ones) far better than my keyboard songs. I've been working hard for the past year and a half since I discovered FL, and after finishing three underground albums ( with a fourth in the works), I believe that I'm finally starting to get pretty good. That is of course subjective, so I'll let you determine whether or not my music is good.
I hope you enjoy the music,
Gavin Brown
