South of the River is made up of four boys from the southern part of Wood County, WV. They started playing their instruments when they were 12 and 13 years old. The young boys kept bugging their parents wanting to start a band. Finally the parents thought, "Let's give them a shot", but didn't think that it would work out or last. In March of 2006, they had their first practice and it didn't sound as bad as what the parents thought. From there, the boys have continued practicing and playing together.
