About signonata

Signo Nata combines a variation of the most popular musical eras with a touch of Electro-Alternative Modern Rock. By carefully extracting the appealing characteristics of the 70s, 80s, 90s decades, Signo Nata merges his own humble point of view by creating their own sound. Our experience in composition, theory, and musical arrangements, derived from our music education background allows us to explore musical ideologies with elegance. Although fully bilingual, English-Spanish, most of this first production is a tribute to our Latin American upbringing.

Signo Nata is derived from Latin, which means "Birth Sign," which expresses the individual characteristics of those people who share the same Signo Nata. In the same order, we chose different sounds from different eras as we are aware of those attributes commonly share among people who bear the same zodiac sign.

Yely Pillot (Leo) vocalist/ bassist/ composer/arranger, was born in Puerto Rico in 1981. Since early age she had an immense passion for music. She started her academic studies in music at age 9 at the "UHS" Elementary and University High School of the University of Puerto Rico. Such craze for music made her finish at an advanced level playing first flute in the concert band under the direction of Prof. Juan Correa Lago while at the same time she played the acoustic bass for the school’s strings orchestra directed by Prof. Nestor Hernandez. Their concert band represented Puerto Rico in the Festival "Music Maestro Please" in New Orleans in 1996, Boston, MA and Orlando, FL. In 1999 she joined the orchestra as a flutist at the University of Puerto Rico.

Her first paid presentation was at the age of 15, with the “UHS” band playing at the Caribe Hilton Hotel & Casino in San Juan on a one year contract. At the same time, she worked alongside local bands in PR mastering the electric bass, acoustic guitar, keyboards, lead vocals and harmonies among others. In her spare time, she joyfully played flute and keyboards with the band of the Catholic Church in Los Angeles, PR.

Once moved to Orlando Florida, she began new musical endeavors. The one she devoted most of her time was called by her name "Yely” which made several live presentations and even shared stage alongside international artists such as Millo Torres in “Latin Quarter”, Orlando. Even today, she continues working with local artists aiding with her humble musical ideology.

Eddie Martinez (Taurus) guitarist/ arranger from PR. In 1987 he enrolled to the Music department at Valencia Comm College and continued on to "UCF" University of Central Florida. Has been working at local and professional circuit in Orlando, FL since 1991 where he began to develop original projects in both English and “Rock en Español”. He also has collaborated in several musical projects and has participated in a great number of performances with artists of different musical levels.

Juan Carlos Garzon (Scorpion) drummer/percussion from Colombia. Since early age had an enormous inclination for percussive instruments and love for popular rhythmic. He contributes with Latin American rhythmic combined with a Hard Rock touch. Currently he is intensively self studying drums and percussion.

In Short, Signo Nata is a 3 piece band, that has manage to create its own musical sound compared by some to musical legends such as “Rush, No Doubt, and The Cranberries” and always maintained a very professional and positive attitude. They have learned to make the best of what’s been available to them. Their Music education backgrounds have given them strong assurance to constantly develop new ideas while manipulating art within the realm of well founded popular norms.

They are all around self taught students of sound, audio engineering, editing, promotion, distribution and management.

Going “all the way” is not only their goal, but also their beginning creating music with high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, skillful execution and envisioning obstacles as opportunities...
