shell slugger
Hi! I am Shell Slugger, 1/4th of the group X-Team. The other three members include, Burt no Reynolds, Timmy Lockwood, and Gambino. The group was formed by cousins Slugger and Lockwood. Locwood intoduced a third member, no longer with the group, who in turn introduced his cousin Gambino to the group. Burt no Reynolds is the younger brother of Slugger and was the final member to join the group, each being born on the westside of Chicago. Each of us bring a diverse mix of lyrical style and content. We are greatly influenced by the hardcore gansta rap music from the westcoast in the late 80's-mid 90's, the hip hop concious movement of the eastcoast, our hometown, Chicago, favorites from the 90's, and a host of other styles in between the early years of rap then and now, I haven't even begun to mention the numerous inspirations from all types of rock, r&b, oldschool r&b, etc. This apreciation of such a diverse selection of music is also reflected in our work. Such a complexity of styles has always presented a problem for categorizing our type of music. The best way to describe it is mass appealing. I encourage you to see for yourself. We have recently opened our own record label due to the fustration of dealing with alot of people making promises, but falling far short of even attempting to help. Starting a record label was easy, but the hard part is taking the neccesary steps to ensure that we are endeavoring in a profitable venture.
