MBS Trio
The MBS Trio took form in the fall of 2008 to fulfill the needs of venues and private events seeking small jazz ensembles and as an artistic outlet for like-minded musicians of the Philadelphia area, Marcus Sholar- sax, Justin Sekelewski-bass and Kevin Collins-guitar. Leader Marcus Sholar then assembled the group for its first encounter: a recording session on October 18 2008. A demo was furnished at Polarity Sound in Philadelphia and a band was born.
Shortly after New Years Day a weekly opportunity arose for the group at a cozy bar and restaurant in Bryn Mawr, called Brothers Spano. The MBS Trio then agreed to offer the instrumentation of sax bass and drums per request, and the MBS Trio added the beat of Andy Martinek. This led to playing cocktail parties for corporate and university clients. The Trio continues to maintain flexibility to offer various instrumentations to the venues and private locations of Greater Philadelphia while anchored by saxophonist Marcus Sholar.
