In search of his inner truth yet electrifying. Focused yet undergoing constant change. Deeply concentrated yet improvisational as a player. Marcel Ziul experienced a great deal from a very young age, and his personality is defined by that, as well as by the inability to do anything but tell the truth while holding a guitar.
Ziul began playing the guitar in the early 1990’s, after several years of formally studying violin. Having been raised ‘on the move’, (his family had already moved fifteen times before he was 18), it did not take Ziul long to realize that his calling to become an artist was a blessing which aided in balancing out the frustration that came out of having been in situations where he did not understand and was not understood. Life had given him no choice but to follow it.
It was in Brazil, to where Ziul moved in 1997, that he met friends who shared his love for music. He joined several bands and currently focuses most of his energy into the MZTRIO, formed in 2006, which has toured tirelessly throughout Brazil. The band’s current members are Luis Capano, (drums), and Eder Dias, (bass).
After having written over three hundred songs, recorded three albums, (one of which is a live studio session in a conceptual ‘video album’ format), and having produced work alongside several other artists, Ziul’s plans include an international tour so that his music may be heard by all those who support his art.
Unique, raw and true; these are just some of the attributes that make Marcel one of the greatest musicians in Brazil, admired by fellow musicians and by numerous fans across the country and around the world.
