About the Artist
Known for his beautiful tone, silky smooth vocals and larger than life stage presence, Julian Quander a.k.a. “THE GOLDEN VOICE” has captivated audiences all over the East Coast is soon to capture your heart. Born in Washington D.C. and named by his very own grandmother, Julian was first introduced to music at the young age of 7. And later attended a performing arts institution known as James Hubert Blake High School of The Performing Arts. In 2003, Julian attended Montgomery College and studied classical voice under the direction of Dr. David Bernard ( Music Department Chair of New Orleans University), Dr. Molly Donnelly, and Lisa Carrier. The Music Department of Montgomery College prepared Julian musically and academically. From there, he transferred to Towson University. His first year was a bit of a scare adjusting to college life away from home. During Julian's first year at Towson University, he studied classical voice with tenor sensation Dr. Kerry Jennings. Julian currently resides at Towson University, and is currently studying classical voice with Kyle Engler (Peabody Sensation), and Jazz voice with Jazz Giant Jeremy Ragsdale. In the past, Julian has studied vocal performance with numerous teachers such as gospel great Richard Odom(Tri-City Singers, Stephanie Mills), Niki Lee, and Chuck Brown's leading musician Vincent Evans. Julian has performed at many venues such as Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, Ellingtons, 13th Floor, Love Night Club, Martins Crosswinds, Montgomery Baptist Church, Jabbok International Church, Cow Palace San Francisco, Washington Convention Center, Baltimore Convention Center..etc. In March 2006, Julian was first place winner of the National Association Of Teachers Singing Competition. In March 2007, Julian released his first 8 song compilation album called “Better Late Than Never.” On July 21st 2007, Julian was the third place winner in the ArtScape sponsored first annual “Cab Calloway Competition”. Julian is currently director of the musical and theater arts camp for children, known as " Break Into Broadway." Julian's influences are Donny Hathaway, Frank Sinatra,Usher, Nat King Cole, Michael Jackson and the list goes on.
