Founding members, Dusty and Madhi, originally came together in 1998. In year 2000, they added DJ Damage, and from there, went on to come one of France's most celebrated indie hip-hop group, via flooding the European and USA markets with 12-inch vinyl singles, for almost a decade. Some of those singles included, a"Ease My Mind", by Fatlip and Tre Hardson (The Pharcyde), "The Return", by Sadat X, "The Process", by Apani B Fly, and "What's Next?" and "Force Be With You" by T-Love. In 2008, the Jazz Liberatorz debut album, Clin d'oeil", became one of the most anticipated underground hip-hop releases in the world. dropped. Featuring a new and fresh track by Mos Def called "Mountain sunlight", and couple of new remixes of some of the songs from their 12-inch campaign, the Jazz Liberatorz went on to sell 100,000 records, in France alone. Well-anchored within the roots of Black American music, and grounded by jazz, the Clin d'oeil album was actually intended to be the Jazz Liberatorz's tribute to the golden-age of hip-hop music. Throughout the album, the listeners will discover the warmful sound of the old jazz fusion records from the 70's, mixed with samples and live instruments played by some of France's most notorious musicians from the jazz and soul music scenes. DJ Damage, Dusty and Madhi are currently working on their second album, but in the meantime, you can either find them on stage performing a concert with their musicians, or DJ-ing on the 1-and-2's, at some of France's hottest night spots. Rumor has it that France-based American journalist/rapperT-Love and the members of Jazz Liberatorz have come together to form a new group, Vidableu.
