About mosesmayes
Moses Mayes at 10KLF 2007
Classic funk grooves, slick guitar riffs, punchy horn lines, old school keys and turntable cuts - this is Moses Mayes. A sound defined by the vision of three students of groove that encompasses elements of past and modern funk fusion.
Since 1999, the music of Moses Mayes has been moving people on the dance floor and from their stereos across North America. Their live performances have earned them a reputation as one of the best acts in their scene, playing to festival and club audiences, sharing the stage with funk legends James Brown and Herbie Hancock and leading the new funk fusion sound over the last 7 years. Add three full length releases, a three song ep, a Western Canadian Music Award and thousands of sales and you have an accumulation of years of experience in orchestrating grooves and exploring sonic frontiers.
From this comes ‘Second Ring’, the third full length album from Moses Mayes - produced by veteran dance floor killer Jamie Shields (the New Deal). At the forefront, the classic Moses dance-funk grooves and signature jazz horn playing. In the new, vocals by artists Sherry St.Germain, Ariane Jean and PHATT al, each of whom adds their own flavour to the Moses sound.
The result, a new take on modern dance music, songs that incorporate elements from the genres of funk fusion, jazz, house and pop. It’s time to hit the dance floor with a different sound...the sound of Moses Mayes.

Anyway, hope you can help us win the live music video category!
All the best,
the Moses Mayes Collective
We've posted a video from our 2007 performance at the Montreal Jazz Festival! Wonder what we look/sound like live, check it our! Taped by the monitor tech so you're right on stage with us in front of 14,000 people...
Thanks so much!
Moses
Blessings,
KLAZZIQUE
Why you ask? We'll we've maybe played about 7 shows in the USA over the last 8 years - however, two of those have been at the 10,000 Lakes Festival in Minnesota (where we happened to meet the OurStage folks and even did an interview...did you guys ever post that?).
Regardless, the last 10KLF show was a banger and they put us on at 1:30am in the Saloon. The place was packed inside, outside it was even more packed (cause of the additional speaker and video screens they put outside the venue) and well it was by far the best show we've had in the USA! Did any of you see it? We certainly heard from you guys and a lot of question of why we're not down in the USA more...
Well that's a long story and I'm sure many bands on this site can attest to the hardships of trying to book shows, connect with industry folks (agents, labels, etc) to make it a reality when entering a new market. Now, we're a Canadian band which provides even further obstacles...but we're working it - we'll be down there more one day.
Anyway, we're taking a small vacation from the road, we've been on tour for three years off and on, played many Canadian Jazz & other outdoor festivals and opened up for Herbie Hancock, James Brown, the New Deal, dropped a new record, won a WCMA award and played countless club dates...whew...that was a good three years. So, right now we're in our studio writing and recording and finding time to create that new sound to inspire us to continue on!
So until then (more touring and releases), check out facebook, myspace, www.mosesmayes.com, youtube and all those great sites to connect with us and see and hear what we do!
Thanks again to all the OurStage folks and members for bringing our name to the forefront of this site....
all the best
