We made it folks! After three rounds of competition, hundreds of entrants from all over the Great White North and thousands of fans making their voices heard, we have our winners for the Intel® “Canada Superstars” Competition! These seven acts represent some of the best that their respective genres, and Canada, has to offer. Musically speaking, in any case. Every month OurStage and Tr3s team up to bring one Latin music artist to the top and crown a new El Headliner. And after thousands of battles in the competition, we have a winner. AJM has been performing for years with a number of different projects, including a stint as a vocalist for Latin GRAMMY winning act Kumbia Kings. But he has truly struck Latin pop gold with his solo material. The fans on OurStage apparently agree, leading to AJM’s win in the Tr3s Latin Music Channel for July. And, of course, with the title of El Headliner comes great publicity. AJM will receive upcoming promotions in Music My Güey, Free Latin Music, Blogamole, and on Tr3s’ Top 20! Sigh, it must feel good to be El Headliner.

The first round of the Intel® Video “Superstars” Competition drew in thousands of content creators competing against one another in nearly every visual genre under the sun. From there we whittled it down to the best of the best in the semi-finals as the top competitors in each sub genre went head to head for the number one spots in Video Game Trailers, Music Videos, and Short Film. Suffice it to say we put these creators through the ringer.

But after two rounds of intense competition, nearly three months of judging and with thousands of fans making their voices heard, we have our winners in the Intel® Video “Superstars” Competition!

A month of fierce competition has passed and California’s Get Back Loretta have risen through the ranks to be crowned the Grand Prize Winner of the “Ernie Ball Pop” Competition with their track “Gotta Believe.” Founded in 2004 by five friends out to create a sound that could not be easily defined, Get Back Loretta have spent the past eight years making their goal a reality. “Gotta Believe” embodies this idea, blending contemporary alternative rock with lyrical prowess of a Top 40 pop single into one catchy and rhythmic tune. After month of fierce competition in our Hard Rock channel, Indiana’s Sideshow Romance are the winners of April’s “Ernie Ball Hard Rock” Competition with their track “Take Me Down.” The group was formed out of a shared love for music between friends and quickly found themselves hitting the road with hopes of making it big. To date they’ve shared the stage with Pop Evil, Puddle of Mudd, Theory of a Deadman, Papa Roach, Saliva, Cavo, Drowning Pool, Nonpoint, Egypt Central, and Halestorm and their reputation is continuing to grow. Big congratulations to Sideshow Romance—enjoy a year un-fettered with costly string purchases.

Throughout the month of July, artists have been battling it out in the “Drake Thank Me Later” competition for a shot at opening for the Canadian hip-hop sensation at the Caribana concert in Drake’s hometown of Toronto. The competition was opened to acts in the alternative hip-hop, hip-hop, rap, R&B and soul genres at the start of July and since then, more than 3,000 artists have entered their music. Chosen from the top 30 entrants, Lokz aka Yuri Koller stood out to Drake and his team as most worthy of the grand prize. In addition to scoring an opening spot at the concert, Lokz will receive four free tickets to the show so his friends can join the crowd of thousands in cheering him on. Standing by to cover the whole event from backstage will be Megan Sumpton, winner of the Backstage Correspondent component of the “Thank Me Later” competition. Megan will receive VIP backstage access to the show and, in addition to chronicling Lokz’s experiences, she will be responsible for interviewing Drake and other artists at the show.  Megan was chosen from a pool of more than 300 applicants, who all submitted audition videos to prove they had the right stuff for the job. She was also hand-picked by Drake and his team for the job.
