The Dear Hunter’s Summer Dates

The Dear Hunter, a.k.a. Casey Crescenzo, stopped by our studios a while back and performed some incredible songs in an exclusive session, which we videoed and posted online (scroll down to select his session). We were floored by what he could do with just a guitar and his voice, and when we got to hear the same songs at a show with a full band… well, let’s just say we can’t recommend it enough.

Lucky for all of us that The Dear Hunter is on tour for the next couple of months, with dates ranging far and wide. See the tour routing below, and be sure to check out some of the exclusive OurStage session, which comes complete with free audio downloads.

Jesse Terry’s Endless Tour

Jesse Terry, the hardest working singer/songwriter in singer/songwriter-dom, seems to live on the road. In an uncertain music business where we fret about and debate the best way to reach the most fans with the least amount of effort, he’s out there constantly, a man with a guitar, selling his fantastic songs the old fashioned way – one town at a time. Terry is currently in the middle of a stretch of East Coast dates that take up the month of July, so look for a town near you in the list below. www.jesseterrymusic.com

Annalise Emerick On Tour

Annalise EmerickWe started getting into the songs of Annalise Emerick when she was a finalist in the Intel Superstars channel we ran last year. As the channel came to a close right around the end of 2013, her New Year-themed song “This Love Won’t Break Your Heart” was in heavy rotation. There are a lot of female singer-songwriters out there, and it’s not easy for one to stand out, but when your songs are this good, we’re certainly not going to forget. So good news for us, and you, Emerick is starting a huge tour in just a few days. Listen below and click here for dates.

Stream Eli “Paperboy” Reed’s New Album ‘Nights Like This’

eli reedVintage soul devotee Eli “Paperboy” Reed has taken a turn for the pop on his new album Nights Like This, out next week on Warner Bros. Read his interview on RollingStone.com, at the bottom of which you can stream the new LP. No, it doesn’t abandon his Redding-inspired vocal stylings, but rather couches them in some updated, pop-oriented production and arrangements. Europe, you can catch Reed on tour starting tonight in Dublin.

Why Is Christine McVie Re-joining Fleetwood Mac?

Fleetwood MacFleetwood Mac is touring again and, unlike recent reunions for the ’70s mega-stars, this one will include keyboardist, singer, and songwriter Christine McVie. McVie was one of the primary creative forces behind the groups mainstream success, contributing hits like “Don’t Stop,” “You Make Loving Fun,” and later singles “Little Lies” and “Everywhere.”

The band slowly dissolved through the end of the ’80s, reuniting for President Bill Clinton‘s inauguration and then later for a concert special, tour, and record called The Dance, which was a big success. Christine McVie left the group after that and they carried on without her, to mixed results. Now she’s back, which is nice for fans, and it’s obviously better to have her there than not. But you have to wonder why she’d do this, after having successfully, and seemingly wisely, extricated herself. It could be for the money, but I’m not so sure. I think when your public identity is so firmly defined by one thing – in this case, Fleetwood Mac – it must be hard to just say it’s over forever. And when you start to face mortality – McVie’s ex-husband and Mac bassist John McVie has recently battled cancer – the desire to revisit that one thing must be compelling. Finally, as McVie told People magazine, the band’s chemistry is truly and undeniably special. I’d like to think that it’s all just for the fun of it. So while I respected her for getting out while the getting was good, I have to assume the purest motives, and respect that, too.

The tour starts September 29 in Minneapolis. Maybe it will be awesome.
