The Dillinger Escape Plan Release “When I Lost My Bet” Video

Heavy music deities The Dillinger Escape Plan have released an insane new video for their latest single, “When I Lost My Best.”

The latest track to surface from One Of Us Is The Killer, “When I Lost My Bet” is yet another awesome entry in Dillinger Escape Plan’s catalog of in-your-face records. The band’s unique brand of mathcore, which finds them balancing the more absurd elements of metal with the refined, continues to leave listeners in awe worldwide and this song is no different.

Visually speaking, this video could not get much darker without coming with a warning of some kind. In fact, I’m not sure those with weak stomachs and/or hearts should even approach “When I Lost My Bet,” but tI would never want to block someone from the almighty power of rock and roll, so I say continue below to view the video (just use caution).

One Of Us Is The Killer hits stores May 14. You can choose one or more of the awesome pre-order bundles for the album here.

Greg’s Top 5 Most Anticipated Albums Of 2013

We’re saying farewell to our co-op Greg, who was a lifesaver for us here at OurStage, as he picked up tasks ranging from Community to Account Management, to Editorial. If you’re a frequent reader of Plugged In, you’ve no doubt read his work. We asked Greg to list some of his music picks for 2013:

Last week, we recapped our favorite releases from the past year. Now, as we bid 2012 adieu, we welcome 2013 and all of the awesomeness it has in store. While there are so many great releases to look forward to, coming up with this list couldn’t have been easier for me. Most of these records are still in the early stages of post-production, but I say it’s never too early to get excited. So here are my top 5 most anticipated albums of 2013 (in no particular order):

City and Colour – (Title TBA)
2011′s Little Hell really put Canadian rock star Dallas Green on the mainstream map. His 3rd full-length solo album was his most powerful yet. Now, after leaving Alexisonfire, his band of 10 years, to focus full time on City and Colour, we can only imagine that the sky is the limit for this talented singer-songwriter. Green wrapped up recording for the fourth album this past November and expects to release it sometime early-mid 2013.

The Dillinger Escape Plan – (Title TBA)
Dillinger are one of those legendary bands who go years without releasing a new album, but then when they do, you realize the wait was worth it. 2010′s Option Paralysis was possibly the most eclectic and eccentric installment by the brutal math-core wizards. With recording for their fifth full-length in the bag, fans are primed for the release this Spring.

Bad Rabbits – (Titles TBA)
In 2009, these Boston locals burst onto the scene with their groundbreaking debut EP Stick Up Kids, 7 songs of non-stop head banging funk soul party pop. On that release alone, they’ve had outstanding momentum, including their run on the 2011 Vans Warped Tour. However, as infectious as those songs are, three years is too long to go without giving fans more. Luckily, Bad Rabbits have a whole arsenal of finished recordings just waiting to be released via shotgun blast in 2013. Get ready for two more EPs, along with videos, limited edition merch, new live dates, and more.

Queens Of The Stone Age – (Title TBA)
The most anticipated rock album of 2013 may be the new Queens Of The Stone Age record. Not only has it been over five years since Josh Homme‘s last release with the project, but now, among all of the rotating members that have played in the band, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has returned on drums along with Nick Oliveri on bass. As two of the quintessential members of QOTSA’s breakthrough album Songs For The Deaf, they helped define the band as many fans know it today. Now that they’re back on board and finished recording, we can only imagine the sheer magnitude of this next album, due out early this year.

The Dillinger Escape Plan Sign To Sumerian – Teaser Video For New Album

Math-core metal monsters The Dillinger Escape Plan have found a new home. They have recently signed with Sumerian Records whose roster includes other heavy-hitters such as Born of Osiris, Stray From The Path, Asking Alexandria, and more. Check out the teaser video below to remind you just how excited you should be for their next diabolical concoction of visceral mind-numbing carnage.

The Dillinger Escape Plan Start Recording New Album

Visceral math-core metal masters The Dillinger Escape Plan are overdue for a new album. Luckily, according to vocalist Greg Puciato‘s Twitter, a follow up to 2010′s Option Paralysis is in the works:

“Oh, and The Dillinger Escape Plan officially began recording our new album today. It is indeed a good day.”

You can say that again. What to expect from this next release? Probably a lot of mind-bending riffs and rhythms mixed with some sort of jazz fusion, or perhaps they’ll throw us a curveball like a cameo from Australian pop star Kimbra. Who knows! But you can bet yourself that whatever it is, it will not be for the faint of heart.

Jekyll & Hyde: Rockers And Their Alter Ego Side Projects

It’s always interesting to find out that one of your favorite artists, known for a particular genre, is quite talented in another style of music. Sometimes fans get so used to a person as a specific character fulfilling a familiar role that, at times, it can be a surprise to hear the musician’s alter ego. Often times though, it can be and eye-opening experience, creating crossovers and introducing listeners to a new style of music that they would have otherwise been oblivious to. So, with that in mind, I’d like to acknowledge and pay respect to a few eclectic rockers who have challenged their fanbases with side-projects that are almost polar opposites from their main work. Some you may know, others may surprise you. In the end, you may feel inspired to finally start that pseudo-electronic jazz fusion folk band you’ve been dreaming about for so long. Dillinger Escape Plan Guitarist Quits Band

Jeff Tuttle, rhythm guitarist for the math-core band The Dillinger Escape Plan since 2007, has quit the band. However, Lambgoat.com says the decision was “amicable.” Statements from Tuttle, the band, and their singer Greg Puciato all explain that Tuttle wishes to pursue a career in film, “something I’ve been deeply passionate about for many years,” the guitarist says.  Both he and Puciato acknowledge that The Dillinger Escape Plan is a an “animal of a band,” one that “isn’t always easy to be in, mentally, emotionally, and definitely not physically,” so he deserves quite a bit of credit for sticking it out with them for the past six years.

Though it’s sad to see Tuttle leave, it’s nice to see a loving and respectful sendoff for a band member parting on good terms. The next question on the minds of DEP fans is, “who will replace him?” Dillinger has had many lineup changes throughout its history, but they never let it slow them down. Whoever takes Tuttle’s place will be the 16th member to have been in the band. I can’t even imagine what that induction ceremony will be like…

Cameo Lovers: Kimbra To Collaborate With Ben Weinman Of The Dillinger Escape Plan

Yup, you read that correctly. Australian pop-star Kimbra (Known primarily across America as “the girl in that Gotye song”) has revealed in a recent interview that she will be collaborating with quite a few big names on her next album, the most obscure and intriguing being Ben Weinman, guitarist for math-core metal band The Dillinger Escape Plan.

The young and talented singer admits that DEP was ”one of [her] favorite bands in high school. He was stoked, so yeah, it’s kind of awesome to be hitting up Benjamin Weinman and be like ‘put some guitars down on my new song.’” While surprising, the genre crossover here may not be as farfetched as one would initially think, seeing as both artists have very jazzy influences, and Dillinger has been known to dabble in pop music from time to time (i.e. a cover of Justin Timberlake’s “Like I Love You”).

Regardless, whether you’re a fan of Kimbra’s golden pipes and candy-coated pop songs or DEP’s blood-curdling screams and ruthless math-core carnage, this collaboration is sure to turn some heads. I’m sure with their “Good Intent,” and a “Two Way Street” of mutual musical appreciation, Kimbra and Weinman’s “Sugar Coated Sour” results just might be “The Perfect Design.” See what we did there?
