It may not be Monday, but it’s always a good time for a new mixtape, right?

Self-made millionaire and hip hop notable Soulja Boy has released a new mixtape entitled King Soulja. The release arrives just weeks after the last Soulja mixtape, and this time the “Water Whippin” rapper offers up eighteen never-before-heard tracks for fans to enjoy. BobbyWorld, Paul Allen, and Soulja Kid make appearances, but none hold a candle to Soulja. You can find stream and download links for King Soulja below.

Love him or hate him, it’s hard to deny the brand Soulja Boy has built in hip hop. He harnessed the popularity of his viral hit to build a social following that he now keeps hoooked with a steady stream of free content. Soulja Boy has released his highly anticipated new mixtape, Foreign 2.

Making good on (too many) delays, Foreign 2 delivers fourteen new tracks from Soulja Boy to his fans around the world. Aside from a few remixes, all original production comes from Soulja, with Diamond, Trav, and Sean Kingston appearing on select tracks. Soulja Boy is one of the hardest working rappers in hip hop today. Not only has he been making a good living creating beats for every major player in the genre, but he’s also keep a steady plan of solo releases flowing like water. Today he continues that grind with the release of his latest mixtape, Foreign.

Serving as a placeholder for next month’s U$A Dre, Foreign features twenty-four brand new tracks for fans to consume. Admittedly, many of these tracks are forgettable freestyles over well worn beats, but buried amongst the mediocre are a few gems any fan would be lucky to hear. In late 2011, a demonic entity from hip-hop Hades escaped from the fiery pits of its creation into the Billboard Hot 100. It made heads turn, parents cry, and Soulja Boy sound like a literary genius. The song, Tyga’s “Rack City,” became instantly hyped and instantly hated. And now, listeners who can’t get enough of choice lines like “I got ya grandma on my dick” are in for a real treat. The Compton-bred emcee has just announced the launch of Rack City XXX, a porn site that will offer weekly video updates for $24.95 a month. Tyga will also be starring in Rack City: The XXX Movie, which will feature London Keyes, Havana Ginger, and more actresses whose names sound like bad cocktails. No grandparents were reported to be featured. Speaking with the adult entertainment news website Business AVN, a proud Tyga provided his in-depth description of the film’s compositional techniques, stating, “It’s a real movie that people will enjoy.” Tyga is currently expecting his first child with his girlfriend, Blac Chyna. She is a stripper.

News of album announcements come by way of Google+ Hangouts. Twitter has replaced wire services as the means by which artists relay information to their fans and to the media. After all, who better to promote you than you? And Instagram functions in much the same way. The service has gone from hipster novelty to smart phone ubiquity. Imagine an alternate reality where rock ‘n’ roll and hip-hop come of age simultaneously, and greasers blast fat beats from vintage car stereos on their way to the sock hop. This is the world of G-Eazy, a New Orleans-bred emcee and producer whose been on a precipitous rise to the top of the rap game for the past few years.  After a string of mixtape releases culminating with The Endless Summer, which demonstrated his pitch-perfect blend of doo-wop and hip-hop, G is poised to take over the national scene. He’s opened for Lil Wayne and A$AP Rocky, and is currently one of the few hip-hop artists on the Vans Warped Tour. We recently caught up with G about the tour, his upcoming album, and what he’d really do with a trip back in time.

OS: You’re playing on every date of the Vans Warped Tour this summer.  What has it been like so far as a hip-hop artist on a mostly punk tour?

G: Well, it totally feels like I’m an outsider, but it’s all working out just fine. I think that having Mod Sun and T. Mills playing the same stage that I’m playing helps a lot because we have a lot of crossover fans that we share. But other that that it’s been fun. It’s been interesting being the outsider and not always fitting in, but there are a ton of cool people here and a ton of cool bands. It’s not really my scene and I wasn’t even into this as a kid, so it’s definitely strange, but it’s really awesome in its own way. There’s a lot of fans here that straight up look like actors from a Tim Burton movie.

OS: But you’re also kind of an out-of-the-box hip-hop artist yourself, with the ’60s doo-wop vibe that you bring to your tracks.  What if you could go actually back to the era that you emulate in your music?  Which artist would you want to collaborate with?

G: The obvious answer would be The Beatles, but that’s not really a possibility. I feel like they wouldn’t collaborate with anybody. They were kind of in their own world.  But if it would be possible to squeeze into one of their sessions and find a way to work with John Lennon, that would be really unbelievable. Also, I mean, if I could go back in time and I could get Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers to the studio and have them lay parts down, I think that would be kind of awesome.

Beaumont, Texas, got its big break—literally—in 1901 after a well struck oil and exploded, shooting nearly a million barrels of black gold into the air for nine days straight and kicking off the Texas oil boom. Now, 110 years later, FreeVerse is looking to explode out of Beaumont with the same unstoppable force. He may not have a million barrels of oil, but in “C.E.O.” the rapper claims to have “a hundred million blessings, a hundred million curses … I kill ‘em all … a hundred million hearses.” The swagger continues through “I’m Fresh,”—where FreeVerse emulates the languorous, mush-mouth delivery of Soulja Boy against compressed beats—and “So Fly.” On the latter, a love manifesto wrapped in a cartoony, croaking beat, FreeVerse promises his lady that together they could be “bigger than Texas.” Shooting high must be in his blood.
