Foo Fighters, Imagine Dragons, The Roots Streaming Super Bowl Concert

Foo Fighters

Foo Fighters

As someone who doesn’t really follow sports, the Super Bowl kind of snuck up on me this year. And while you’re all getting ready to gorge on chicken wrapped in bacon (yum) and cheering for your favorite team, I’ll be looking forward to one thing, and one thing only:  a series of concerts by Foo Fighters, The Roots, and Imagine Dragons which will be streamed live via RollingStone.com. The Roots will kick things off tomorrow night with a program dubbed “The Roots Present Hip-Hop NYC,” featuring appearances by Run-DMC, Busta Rhymes, and more. Friday will bring Imagine Dragons to the stage at 12 a.m. EST, and Saturday belongs to the Foo Fighters.

Perhaps the coolest part of all of this, besides the actual streaming, is that the performances will be taking place on an aircraft carrier stationed in the Hudson River. Check it all out beginning at 11pm EST tomorrow night.

Vampire Weekend Cover “Con Te Partirò”

Vampire WeekendSometimes bands get really creative and really bold in their covers. And if you ask me, that’s the way to do it. Take a song and make it your own; none of this relying on what the original artist has already perfected to coast you through to rave reviews. Taking the classic “Con te Partirò” made famous by Andrea Bocelli, Vampire Weekend does exactly that.

“‘Con te Partirò’ is one of the greatest love songs of all time,” frontman Ezra Koenig told Rolling Stone. ”Its beauty transcends language. Thank you, Mr. Bocelli, for introducing us to this majestic gem.”

Check out the band’s revamped version here, and keep an eye out for Starbucks’ Sweetheart 2014 album, which will feature this and covers from Beck, Ben Harper, and more.

Bob Dylan Sued For Alleged Racism

Bob Dylan may have just been named a Legion of Honour by France, but that won’t stop him from reportedly being sued by a Croatian community association out of France. The reasoning? Seemingly racist remarks made in a cover story interview with Rolling Stone last year. When asked about the Civil War era vs present-day America, Dylan had responded by saying:

“This country is just too fucked up about color. It’s a distraction. People at each other’s throats just because they are of a different color. It’s the height of insanity, and it will hold any nation back – or any neighborhood back. Or any anything back. Blacks know that some whites didn’t want to give up slavery – that if they had their way, they would still be under the yoke, and they can’t pretend they don’t know that. If you got a slave master or Klan in your blood, blacks can sense that. That stuff lingers to this day. Just like Jews can sense Nazi blood and the Serbs can sense Croatian blood.”

We’re betting you can guess which line the Croatian community is upset about. Taking action by suing Dylan and the French version of Rolling Stone, the secretary general of the organization, Vlatko Marić, said it was “an incitement to hatred” and that ”you cannot compare Croatian criminals to all Croats. But we have nothing against Rolling Stone magazine or Bob Dylan as a singer.”

Andre 3000′s Musical Career Is “Up In The Air”

It has been quite a while—6 years in fact—since Andre 3000 has released a full studio album. Outkast‘s 2006 soundtrack for their movie Idlewild, is the last major release by the hip hop/R&B artist. Since then he has only been on featured tracks or his own sporadically released single tracks. This has raised a lot of questions and rumors among his fans, especially as to whether or not there will be an Outkast reunion.

According to Complex.com, Andre 3000 explained  in a Rolling Stone interview just where he stands currently as an artist, and frankly, he is not sure. He says that “things are kind of up in the air with me, and some days, I feel like yeah, I’ll do it. Some days, I feel like, I don’t. I don’t know the future of music right now. I have no idea what I do. I honestly don’t.” Andre also mentioned that he feels a judgmental pressure from fans and critics who are watching his every move in the music world “because I don’t do it much, they analyze every word and before, you could’ve had a shitty verse and people just forgot about it. So it’s different now.”

As for a reunion with Outkast, he simply states that he has tuned out all rumors and expectations because “it makes me mad to read it sometimes,” he says, “I don’t read the Internet.”

Meanwhile, Andre’s former Outkast partner Big Boi is set to release his next solo album, coincidentally named Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors, on December 11th. Hopefully Andre will get back into the swing of things, and perhaps the two will join forces once again, but as of now, that seems unlikely.

REZNOR WATCH: Read About Nine Inch Nails’ Return While Streaming The New How to destroy angels_ EP

It was a sad day when Trent Reznor decided to retire Nine Inch Nails as a going concern. But Trent, retirement means you relax. Kick you feet up. Maybe stare wistfully at sunsets while sitting in a porch swing sipping Arnold Palmers and waiting for Kojack to come on. That’s what old people do right?

Reznor certainly hasn’t gone quietly into the night. He got hitched and started a band, How to destroy angels_, with his wife Mariqueen Maandig. He scored The Social Network and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo to great acclaim and he recently lent his talents to the soundtrack for Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2. But it looks like Reznor has a certain itch that only a nine inch nail could scratch.
