In 2011, Propellerhead released three new products that paved the way for their digital audio workstation (DAW), Reason – making it one of the most advanced MIDI instrument/recording interfaces yet. To recap: last year, the company released Reason 6 (64 bit) and combined their two successful products Reason 5 and Record into a single pack, allowing both audio and MIDI recording to seamlessly exists within Reason as a single application. Additionally, last year they released their own sound card, Balance. Compatible with any DAW, computer, or OS, Balance incorporates a revolutionary recording technology for users of Record and/or Reason 6: Clip Protection. Finally, that last major move the company made consisted of a packaged called Reason Essentials, providing Reason’s rack and instruments to users of different DAWs at just $99.
So, what’s going on this year? As seen on Propellerhead’s website, the company broke the news that they’ll be offering three new products for 2012 at the Musikmesse Convention in Frankfurt, Germany (Figure, Rack Extensions, and the Rack Extensions store.)
