Chasing Blue Snags A Year’s Worth Of Ernie Ball Strings

Few bands can appreciate the value of a year’s worth of free strings like a bluegrass band. For groups that contain banjos, fiddles, mandolins, upright basses, and guitars, re-stringing the entire band before gigs can be tiring and expensive.  That is, unless you’re Chasing Blue. The Boston-based bluegrass group just scored an entire year’s worth of free Ernie Ball strings. Check out their melancholy tune “Bad Water,” which beat out the competition in the Alternative Country Channel to land them the prize. Congrats, guys! Just remember: you still need to do the actual stringing yourselves.

OurStage Soloists Jockey For Lead Position

Think you can tell who’ll be the next Jimmy Page and who’ll be just another C.C. Deville (no offense, C.C.)?  Take your ears over to the Guitar Player “Take The Lead” Competition and judge the most shred-tastic solos on OurStage. Your favorite up-and-coming axeman could score an editorial feature in Guitar Player magazine, and a year’s worth of guitar and bass strings from Ernie Ball!  Judge now, and separate the pentatonic noodlers from the super locrian economy pickers. Guitarists, you know what we mean.

Give These Latin Artists A Break!

With just four days to go before the final voting round closes, the five final Latin artists in the Tr3s “Dame Un Break” Competition are racing to pull in the votes necessary to win the Grand Prize—a one-day recording session with GRAMMY Award-winning producer Sebastian Krys and a music video shot in L.A., which will premiere on Tr3s and tr3s.com. Check out the music of Radial, Elshamusic, Xcelencia, Lilo, and Lokixximo then vote here for your favorite before July 16 to help decide which artist will finally get their lucky break!

Konsept Scores Knockout In June Main Event Competition

After weeks of intense head–to–head competition between Brooklyn indie rockers Midnight Spin and Chicago hip–hop act Konsept, the winner of the June round of the ESPN “Main Event” Competition has been decided.  Konsept, the Chicago-bred emcee nabbed the Grand Prize: a placement of his song “Hero” on ESPN’s Friday Night Fights.  He’ll return in August to battle against the other “Main Event” winners for the chance to be featured on Friday Night Fights’ “Images of the Year.”

Sharon Isbin’s Guitar Passion

OurStage, Guitar Player magazine, and Ernie Ball are teaming up this summer to offer aspiring guitarists a chance to win the ultimate Grand Prize. Enter the Guitar Player “Take The Lead” Competition by August 17 for your shot to win your very own feature in Guitar Player magazine, a year’s supply of strings and accessories from Ernie Ball, and more! Throughout the competition, we’ll be bringing you exclusive editorial content, fresh from guitarplayer.com—enjoy!

“Sharon Isbin isn’t your average internationally renowned, multiple Grammy Award winning, Billboard chart-topping female classical guitarist. In addition to making dozens of recordings of music from the traditional and modern classical guitar repertoires— including nine compositions written specifically for her—and giving hundreds of performances with leading orchestras and ensembles in celebrated venues worldwide, she has also passionately embraced music of other traditions. For example, 2001’s Dreams of a World explored several varieties of folk music from around the globe, and last year’s Journey to the New World bridged British Isles and American folk. Both albums received Grammys.”
