Will.I.Am Streams “Fall Down” Featuring Miley Cyrus

Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.I.Am has built a career with boundary-pushing pop music, and today’s post is no different.

On April 23 Will.I.Am will make history by becoming the first major artist to release and album with a hashtag in the title. The album, titled #Willpower, will feature Will.I.Am’s latest pop concoctions, including a new collaboration with Miley Cyrus entitled “Fall Down.” The song features a recurring whistle sample and a hook driven at times entirely on the strength of a snare sample, but please don’t let either of those facts scare you away from the song. I cannot say Will’s additions are the interesting, but Miley dominates this track with the full range of her vocal abilities.

Will.I.Am may never win me over, but Miley Cyrus on the other hand has done a fine job of reinventing in 2013. This track proves she has more to offer than she has as of yet been able to share with the masses. I can’t believe I’m about to type this, but I am legitimately excited to see what she comes up with next. Continue reading ‘Will.I.Am Streams “Fall Down” Featuring Miley Cyrus’

Miley Cyrus To Team Up With Dr. Luke Again On New Release

It’s not even worth asking if you remember “Party In The USA.” Of course you do. Miley’s 2009 hit was so infectious that it would have taken a blood transfusion to get rid of it that fall. But it wasn’t just Miley who created that monster hit. Aiming for total chart domination, she teamed up with mad pop genius Łukasz Gottwald a.k.a. Dr. Luke, the same man who masterminded hits like ”I Kissed a Girl,” “My Life Would Suck Without You,” “Tik Tok,” “We R Who We R,” “Teenage Dream,” “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.),” and practically every other chart-topping pop song that you’ve heard in the past half decade. The man is a pop music machine, and he’s not done with Miley yet. After inking a new deal with RCA records, Miley will once again be collaborating with Dr. Luke on her new album along with other big names like Tyler The Creator and Mary J. Blige. Prepare your ears for complete invasion.

Miley Cyrus Covers Dolly Parton’s “Jolene”

Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” has been covered by big name acts like The White Stripes and The Sisters Of Mercy, but for the first time, Parton’s own goddaughter, Miley Cyrus has covered the track as part of her “Backyard Sessions,” recorded this past summer.

Surprisingly true to the original, “Jolene” is the last in the series, preceded by James Shelton‘s “Lilac Wine” and Melanie Safka-Schekeryk’s “Look What They’ve Done To My Song.”

Listen to “Jolene” after the jump. Continue reading ‘Miley Cyrus Covers Dolly Parton’s “Jolene”’

Borgore Recruits Miley Cyrus For His “Decisions” Music Video

If there is one name synonymous with the dirty side of dubstep, it’s Borgore. Over the course of his multiple genre releases the still-young DJ has managed to offend nearly everyone with a moral barometer by mixing the world (and sounds) of pornography into his art. For his latest single and video, “Decisions,” Borgore keeps it clean(ish) by recruiting Miley Cyrus for a late night hotel party filled with cake icing and celebrities making out with dudes in horse masks. You can view the video below:

Sound And Vision: Why Hasn’t Tabloid Notoriety Turned John Mayer into a Total Joke?

“John Mayer Gets a Haircut After Katy Perry Split!”

As breaking news of the day goes, it’s not exactly groundbreaking. Still, there it was, in multiple variations, splattered across the online pages of E!, Us Weekly, Entertainment Weekly (which called it a “hair break-over”), People magazine and so many other websites devoted, in large and small part, to such trivialities. You’d think Samson had risen from the dead and taken up guitar.

But wait! Shouldn’t Delilah — I mean, Katy Perry — have been the star of this life (and a new ‘do)-after-love story? Traditionally, the celebrity tabloids and gossip websites pursue female celebrities about whom they date, whom they marry, whom they divorce, to search for baby bumps, and fashion dos and don’ts. Guys generally get in only when they’re dating one of them. (Why do you think Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger, who once went from long to short without causing so much as a media ripple and is now engaged to Avril Lavigne, is suddenly “newsworthy”?)

By those standards, John Mayer must be some kind of publicity-baiting genius. In the last several years, he’s made himself as much of a tabloid fixture as an A-list starlet by dating a succession of them: Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Aniston, Taylor Swift, and most recently, Katy Perry, his pop-star paramour of a few months. Exclusive Q and A: Trace Cyrus Talks Ashland High, Designing Clothes and Collaborating with Miley

OurStage Exclusive InterviewsBeing a sibling to one of the hottest stars on the planet can have its benefits, but Trace Cyrus (aka Ashland High) has had no problem making a name for himself. Miley’s older brother rose to fame in 2006 when his dance-pop band Metro Station was discovered at the top of the charts on MySpace. The group exploded in popularity with the release of their song “Shake It,” and were soon sharing the stage with the likes of Cobra Starship and Fall Out Boy. After the band parted ways in 2010, Trace decided to continue honing his musical skills, and now records and performs solo as Ashland High. We met up with Trace at the Bamboozle Festival to learn more about the new project, his clothing line, and what it’s like to work with his famous family members.

OS: How has your weekend at Bamboozle been?

TC: My weekend has been busy. It feels good to sit down and relax for a second. I’ve been here since Friday. I performed today and I’ve been selling my clothing line and meeting kids. I’ve met thousands of kids, I haven’t met this many in years. It’s great.

OS: You’ve been making music under the name Ashland High for a few years. How did it all begin?

TC: It started a couple years ago after Metro Station. It wasn’t really planned, but we went our separate ways. Basically, we were trying to record the second Metro Station album and it ended up being just me on a lot of tracks by myself, and I was doing a lot of work. It kind of gave me the confidence, since the band went our separate ways, I was like, “Well, I already did five songs by myself in the studio.” They weren’t great, but they weren’t horrible. Two years later, like, a hundred and fifty songs later… The songs I have online, I did that last November and I recorded all of those songs in nine days. But before that, I had over 150 tracks that I did with other producers. It took me a long time to just feel confident with my craft as a solo artist. When you have a band and everyone contributes, it’s a lot different. I’m definitely happy with where I’m at. Hard work pays off when you’re doing it by yourself. I definitely have people helping me, teammates, producers and whatnot, but Ashland High is a solo act. A lot of people think it’s a band, but it’s strictly me.
