Earlier this month OurStage sent three acts to Los Angeles to compete for a Grand Prize package from New Music Seminar worth over $25,000 in consultation services and gear. The three “Artists on the Verge” finalists were critiqued by a panel of music industry experts including live music producer Tom Jackson and Justin Tranter (Semi Precious Weapons).  Fierce competition between rockers Admiral Twin and Loomis & the Lust and rising pop diva Nikki Lynette made it a tough decision for the panel who, ultimately, were split between Loomis & the Lust and Nikki Lynette. The panelist then invited both acts on stage to perform in order to break the tie. After two powerhouse performances by some of OurStage’s finest, Loomis & the Lust were selected as the “Artists on the Verge” Grand Prize winners. We had the chance to catch up with Will Loomis and Nikki Lynette to see what they got out the seminar:

Last month OurStage launched one of its first premium channels in celebration of New Music Seminar heading to Los Angeles. The groundbreaking music industry seminar will be making its first west coast appearance after successful events in New York and Chicago on February 2nd. The NMS founders Tom Silverman, and renowned manager and touring expert, Dave Lory, wanted to make this edition of the seminar extra special by inviting pop, rock and urban artists to compete for several exposure opportunities with some of the industry’s most connected leaders. Eight artists were narrowed down from hundreds in New Music Seminar’s Artists on the Verge New Winter Artist Search to have an A&R package sent to top US labels. Of those eight, three were selected to be flown out to LA to attend New Music Seminar and compete for a career-making grand prize package worth over $25,000 in gear and consultation services from NMS partners.

In November Converse and OurStage joined forces to bring you the 2nd “Get Out of the Garage” Music Contest. Converse, along with Guitar Center and Journeys, wanted to send the best new acts in Rock and Urban music to play a career-making showcase in Austin this March. The gig in question? An opening slot for last year’s “Get Out of the Garage” winner, the Flying Machines, at the Levi’s/FADER fort! Over 6,500 artists were judged by fans on OurStage for a chance to play what could very well be their big break. From that 6,500, the competition was narrowed down to 10 high-ranking acts. Of those finalists, 2 acts were selected for the grand prize performance by a panel of judges who determined the winners based on their creativity, entertainment value, lyrics, melody and music. The grand prize winners will also be the lucky recipients of a $1,000 Guitar Center gift certificate and $1,000 in cash from OurStage! During November fans judged the best emerging talent in Rock and Urban music on OurStage for Converse’s “Get Out of the Garage” Music Contest. The competition was steep: over 6,500 artists entered to for a chance to play one of two grand prize opening slots at the upcoming Levi’s/FADER Fort showcase in Austin this March. Now that the judging has ended 10 finalists from each “Get Out of the Garage” channel have been selected by the fans for grand prize consideration.
