Justin Bieber Appears on ‘The Simpsons’

Unless he’s built a rocket as part of a covert marketing operation, Justin Bieber proved last night he’s officially put his brand on every desirable location possible outside the moon (and he’s barely an “adult”).

Last night, Bieber made his animated debut on the long-running Fox animated series, The Simpsons. Written and recording back in August 2012, Bieber played himself in an episode called “The Fabulous Faker Boy.” The story followed Marge pushing Bart to be more creative, and during a sequence involve a talent competition you momentarily see Bieber alongside real-life manager Scooter Braun.

Fox has not released the footage from the episode just yet, but we do have a still image from the show. Click below to see what the Bieber of Springfield looks like. Continue reading ‘Justin Bieber Appears on ‘The Simpsons’’

Will.i.am & Justin Bieber Release “#thatPOWER” Video

Gearing up for the Tuesday release of his new album #WillPower, Will.i.am has released the video for his Justin Bieber assisted single “#ThatPOWER.”

Forgetting for a moment just how ludicrous song and album titles with hashtags are, the clip for “#ThatPOWER” is sufficiently entertaining. Will.i.am has been known more and more for his interest in futuristic imagery and technology in recent years, and that interest is on full display in the video. You can view the clip at the end of this post.

#WillPower hit stores on Tuesday. We probably won’t review it, but if anything else interesting surfaces we’ll be sure to bring it to your attention. Continue reading ‘Will.i.am & Justin Bieber Release “#thatPOWER” Video’

Weekend Update: March 24, 2013

Hello, everyone! It’s a cool Sunday afternoon here in Boston, but the headlines keep on rolling. We’ll return with regular article tomorrow, but for now…

  • Daft Punk have all but confirmed a new album. Check out this teaser commercial that aired during SNL.

  • The debut album from *NSYNC turned 15 this weekend. Editor James Shotwell shared a memory he connects with the release to mark the occasion.

Justin Bieber Cancels Portugal Concert Due To Poor Ticket Sales

Some will tell you every fan counts, but if you’re Justin Bieber it seems quantity over quality is the way to go.

According to a story TMZ claims they can call facts, Justin Bieber reportedly cancelled a recent concert in Portugal over poor ticket sales. This would not really be news if sales were so low that it justified such a change, but promoters claim Bieber actually sold over 60% of the seats for his scheduled performance, meaning less than 40% were unfilled at the time of cancellation. News In Brief: February 12, 2013

Lots of interesting little bits today, kiddos.

Timbuck and the JZA…what, I can’t make up nicknames for popular entertainers that I hope will catch on, even though they’re super-stupid and I know they won’t? Fine, Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z (happy?) are reportedly planning a big tour together. Jay-Z guests on JT’s new “Suit And Tie” and the pair have been appearing together a lot recently, most notably at the Grammys this past Sunday. Via Rolling Stone

Spin has neatly summarized the pop-up feud between The Black Keys’ Patrick Carney and Leif Garrett Justin Bieber. Carney, cornered by TMZ cameras, let out a short dig at the pop’s littlest sensation. Known lately for taking shots at some, uh, easy targets, Carney’s remarks hinted that Bieber had been snubbed at the Grammys because the Grammys are for music. Conclusions drawn. Bieber hit back on twitter that Carney should be “slapped around haha.” HAHA YOU ASSHOLE, I WILL HAVE YOUR LEGS BROKEN, is what we think he was getting at. Carney then invited a more intimate form of corporal punishment.

Phoenix has announced an impending new album, called Bankrupt! I can’t imagine the title has anything to do with the French quartet’s bank accounts, after the success (and double success if you count some mega licensing deals) of 2009′s Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix (named in tribute to Eddie Van Halen‘s son Wolfgang, I assume). Tour dates, track list, over at the AV Club.

Despite the buzz, which itself was despite the consistent denials, Ben Gibbard has again refuted the notion of a new Postal Service LP. It is NOT GOING TO HAPPEN, MUSIC NERDS. Gibbard “broke” the “news” while announcing that there are two new singles, both to be included with the reissue of Give Up.

The 5 Best and Worst Music-Related Super Bowl Commercials Of All Time

Before you settle back into your La-Z-Boy this Sunday to watch the big game, let’s take a moment to recap some of the best and worst music-related Super Bowl commercials ever to grace your TV screen. Let’s just hope that The Flaming Lips don’t embarrass themselves in their much-hyped Hyundai ad this year.

THE GOOD

Who better to talk about the gritty determination that defines Detroit than the poster bad boy of the Motor City, Eminem? This brooding car ad actually instilled a spot of Motown pride amid the general goofiness that usually defines Super Bowl commercials. Good job, Rabbit. Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Live: Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Bruno Mars

Every year among the madness of the holidays comes one of ABC’s finest moments in television: The Victoria’s Secret Fashion show. Each year scantily clad models make their way down the runway to the sounds of yesterday and today, with star-studded performances by the year’s hottest musicians.

This year, it’s no surprise that among those who graced the stage were Justin Bieber, Rihanna and Bruno Mars.

Justin Bieber ogled the ladies, as he performed “Beauty and A Beat” which featured Nicki Minaj (audio only) along with a sit down acoustic rendition of “As Long As You Love Me.”

Rihanna performed her new single “Diamonds,” along with “Phresh Out The Runway,” holding her own amongst seasoned Victoria’s Secret vets.

Bruno Mars stole the spotlight, starting things off slow with “Young Girls,” before amping it up with the overly appropriate, “Locked Out Of Heaven,” proving to be one of the more energetic performances of the night.

Check out all the performances after the jump and decide for yourself. Let us know, what did you think of this year’s performances? Continue reading ‘Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Live: Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Bruno Mars’
